Historia
“Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County, the fictional setting of many of John Grisham’s unforgettable stories. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. He’s called upon to help an old friend, Mack Stafford, a former lawyer in Clanton, who three years earlier became a local legend when he stole money from his clients, divorced his wife, filed for bankruptcy, and left his family in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again—until now. Now Mack is back, and he’s leaning on his old pals, Jake and Harry Rex, to help him return. His homecoming does not go as planned.

there's a book here somewhere
Revisado: 08-02-22
The narration was great. It was the only reason I kept listening. The book needed a much better editor. As it stands it is a mish-mash of several stories which aren't well presented.

creepy
Revisado: 05-24-22
This is the creepiest book i have ever read/listened to. It is also over long and the narrator reads too slowly. Speeding up helped the narration, but the book needs to be heavily edited. Any way, if I had known how creepy it would be i would never have read it.

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-20-21
For the first time I did not like this Bess Crawford story. The historical background was interesting but the story was very formulaic and thus the history didn’t add much to the story.

Scandinavia in WWll
Revisado: 07-03-21
Interesting information about Sweden during the WWll era. For some people it will be very surprising and worth learning. Do listen to the author’s notes at the end of the book.
I didn’t like the structure of the book, the alternating narrators. This seems to be a popular technique right now. I prefer a more seamless style.

The story is very good with many themes going on simultaneously, many of which are still very relevant. The narrator whose voice is not irritating will however put you to sleep.

It is the late summer of 1814, and Hannah Bonner and her half brother Luke have spent more than a year searching the islands of the Caribbean for Luke's wife and the man who abducted her. But Jennet's rescue, so long in coming, is not the resolution they'd hoped for. In the spring she had given birth to Luke's son, and in the summer Jennet had found herself compelled to surrender the infant to a stranger in the hope of keeping him safe.

Phillappa Gregory vs Alison Weir
Revisado: 05-22-21
Alison Weir is more scholarly and I believe she does more research and is more accurate. However PG’s novels are more lively. So I chose them according to my mood. Sometimes I read both!
