The content is neither awful, nor original. However, the narrator sounds exactly like Gary Busse. So if you can handle listening to him give advice them you might like this book.

I have no doubt that the author has been very successful as a personal trainer. His history proves it with the clients he's worked with. However this book is unless you're simply interested in the man himself not worth the time.

The story of the quintessential narrow-minded, sheltered, snarky ,entitled twenty-something so prevalent in modern America.

I kept hoping something horrible would happen to the "heroine", in the process teaching her how shallow she is. Alas, I couldn't stomach the pity party long enough to find out of it did.

The narration is the only redeeming quality of this turkey and the only reason I didn't give it a straight one.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only to someone with an existing interest in Tibetan Buddhism or Chinese communism. The book itself is filled with meaningless asides and dead end stories, interesting because of the context, but individually, boring and lend nothing to the story.

What did you like best about this story?

The inside glimpse into the history of the Chinese occupation of Tibet.

Would you be willing to try another one of Mark Ashby’s performances?

I would avoid books with this narrator. He annoyingly tries to pronounce names with and absurd accent and when he isn't butchering Tibetan he sounds like a newscaster from the 1950's.

Do you think Surviving the Dragon needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No.
