Historia
Don't go outside past dark. Come straight home after church. And above all—never, ever, go into Red Wood. These are the rules Latavia's aunt gives her when Latavia arrives in Sanctum, Alabama for the summer. Though, weird as they are, living in Sanctum does have its pros. Mainly, the cute girl who works at the local ice cream shop. But Sanctum is turning out to be as strange as the rules—and the longer Latavia’s in town, the more suspicious she is that the people there are hiding something. And the more clear it is that she’s an outsider.

Awesome narrator and engaging story. Listened to it in one go. Just couldn't stop. Possibly I've would liked a bit different ending, but the existing is acceptable as well. :)

Story isn't just one way to persuade. It's the way. It's built into the architecture of the brain, and has been since early humans gathered around the camp fire, trying to figure out how to outsmart the lion next door. In Story or Die, story coach Lisa Cron sets out to decode the power of story, first by examining how the brain processes information, translates it into narrative, and then guards it as if your life depends on it.

Loved the book. In this book Lisa tells about story basics and how to apply technique to any kind of story - from teaching kid to not text while driving to creating an ad or speech that will stay in people's minds for a long time. A lot of good examples and funny comments from the author that allows to understand it much easier.
Like in Lisa's previous books, we learn more about her thru experiences she share with us.

Historia
It's every novelist's greatest fear: pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into writing hundreds of pages only to realize that their story has no sense of urgency, no internal logic, and so is a page-one rewrite. The prevailing wisdom in the writing community is that there are just two ways around this problem: pantsing (winging it) and plotting (focusing on the external plot).

Revisado: 08-14-22
If you're looking for a lot of brain science, better read Lisa's first book about being Hard Wired for story. In this book only 8 chapters out of 15 touches upon the it. The book mostly focuses on how to write a first draft of a novel, but the ideas might be applied also to other forms of writing, such as, but not limited to, plays and screenplays.
This work will be very useful for novice writers who dream about writing that first bestseller that crash the shelves, but also experienced writers may find some interesting ideas and reminders .

Imagine knowing what the brain craves from every tale it encounters, what fuels the success of any great story, and what keeps people transfixed. Wired for Story reveals these cognitive secrets - and it's a game-changer for anyone who has ever set pen to paper. The vast majority of writing advice focuses on "writing well" as if it were the same as telling a great story. This is exactly where many aspiring writers fail - they strive for beautiful metaphors, authentic dialogue, and interesting characters, losing sight of the one thing that every engaging story must do.

Historia
Here, for the first time, Katie opens up about realizing at the age of 28 that she is gay. In these poignant, funny essays, she wrestles with her shifting sexuality and identity, and describes what it was like coming out to everyone she knows (and everyone she doesn’t). As she revisits her past, looking for any "clues" that might have predicted this outcome, Katie reveals that life doesn’t always move directly from point A to point B - no matter how much we would like it to.

Interesting listen
Revisado: 06-20-22
I listened to this book from cover to cover in one day and must say - I enjoyed how she told her life's story. The work is structured well. Each chapter has specific topic and flashes from her life, whitch fall under that topic are told. Also, in bigger scope her life is told in progressive form and we learn about her problems and reasons why she's where she is.
The author a lot refers to a fact that she identifies now as queer. However, she never explains what she understands with that and how she defines that. I mention this because, there's no exact definiton of queer person and each one who defines under that label understands it differently.
After listening to this book, I can conclude that the main reason for her problems with men were due to her childhood and strict rules about having no dates until age of 16. All other problems grew out of this one.
I would encourage others to listen to the story carefully, because if you're listening to it in background while multitasking, you may miss some details and that could ruin your expiriance.

Historia
Wren owes everything she has to her hometown, Hollow’s End, a centuries-old picture-perfect slice of America. Tourists travel miles to marvel at its miracle crops, including the shimmering, iridescent wheat of Wren’s family’s farm. At least, they did. Until five months ago. That’s when the Quicksilver blight first surfaced, poisoning the farms of Hollow’s End one by one. It began by consuming the crops, thick silver sludge bleeding from the earth. Next were the animals.

Good debut
Revisado: 06-18-22
Interesting story and good debut in YA literary field. Lauren was excellent with multiple voices as always. She's truly a voice talent.
This is excellent novel for those who enjoy romance and love tangled together with suspense and horror, wrapped in magick and alchemy coat with they lived happily ever after ending. The story is told from heroine's perspective, therefore her internal struggles and emotional world is portrayed very vividly. Atleast for me they felt a bit redundant, but possibly other readers be able to enjoy them. Story also has side characters from LGBT community - teen female couple.
I enjoyed the story and be waiting for the author's next works.

The truth is still out there. The iconic hit that had millions searching for UFOs back in the 90s is now an exhilarating audio event, only from Audible. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunite as FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, joining an ensemble of original cast members in an out-of-this-world production.
