This audiobook provides easy to understand explanations of the mechanics behind anxiety, how our thoughts, feelings and physical reactions are entwined, and different types of cognitive misconceptions. The tips provided reinforce empowerment by breaking each strategy down into easy-to-follow steps backed by the reasons WHY each strategy is helpful. Throughout the chapters, a theme of normalization and tranquility is reinforced, a constant reminder that many, many people experience anxiety and that retraining your brain is achievable. There is a holistic range of tips and tricks to suit every lifestyle and meet every reader where they are at in their journey with anxiety.

Throughout this audiobook, tips for tackling anxiety are backed by research and real-world examples of individuals who have transformed their lives to live more authentically and anxiety-free. This book truly comes from holistic foundations, ensuring there are gems for every type of person, with tips that target every facet of life. What I appreciate most is that this book includes practices from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, making CBT more accessible to anyone who wishes to try it.

Susan’s writing style is easy to digest, and feels like a cozy conversation with a close friend. She encourages a non-judgmental approach focused on cognitive reframing and self-encouragement. I highly recommend Breaking the Chains of Anxiety for those who have anxiety, think they have anxiety, or anyone who wants to nurture a more rational mind and build resilience.
