Historia
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Wonderfully emotional!
Revisado: 01-12-25
I am just obsessed with this book. Of course, being a huge fan of hockey, doesn’t hurt to be a hockey story.
This is not only a story about love and fighting through the trials, but also about resilience. Resilience in life, work, and of course love.
Ashley is a hockey coach who cares deeply for her girls. But she is also a hockey sister and one who her family demands she is there for everything for her brother, who may be the next NHL sensation. Throw in a hot hockey star, in a mild enemies to lovers trope, and what is there not to love??
Ashley has to make some really tough decisions with her family and knows that she may be disowned because of it. Her brother, Jes, is less than forgiving of her decisions and her dad is just downright angry. But she finally has to put herself first. Ashley decides she is going to make some of her own choices…
This was an emotional read that I wouldn’t typically expect from a fun rom-com type of story. I got chills!
Excellent read!

Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you can lose the plot of your own. This wasn’t how Kelsey Worthington’s day was supposed to go. She wasn’t supposed to be picking up Starbucks for her smarmy boss. She wasn’t supposed to get hit by a car that jumped the curb. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to wake up in a hospital room next to Georgina Tate—the legendary matriarch of New York City businesswomen.

Cute wholesome story
Revisado: 01-08-25
When Kelsey wakes up in a hospital bed with no recollection of what happened to her, it makes her reflect on her life. But when I cantankerous OLD woman named Georgie ends up as her roommate, that’s when things really take.
Kelsey has to sign an NDA so that she cannot disclose any of Georgie’s information. But that gets her thinking about what Georgie’s life has been, which leads Kelsey to the summer of yes.
This story was so sweet and gave me all the feels. Full of love and hope, and resilience.

They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

So sweet ❤️
Revisado: 08-07-24
Stephanie is the personal assistant to a powerful billionaire, Branson. The story is so unique because the group of male friends all have some sort of disability and it’s their goal to help other, primarily kids, with disabilities.
Branson is hardened and secretly loves Stephanie, but won’t admit that to anyone, including her. When Branson gets engaged to another woman, Steph and all his friends are horrified. And his friends make it their mission to make Bran see the error of his ways.
This was so sweet, a great love story, albeit with some road blocks. No spice in this one, all sugar.

My favorite so far!
Revisado: 07-24-24
I just started reading the pink bean series about a week ago and just finished this book. Out of the three I have read so far, this is my favorite! Josephine is a younger barista at the Pink Bean, who is severely lacking in confidence. She hates her body and thinks that everybody else around her does as well. But when she meets one of her favorite authors in the coffee shop, she starts to forget about her fears.
Caitlin James is a popular author amongst the crew, she is confident, fun, and as o charismatic. So the big question is, what would she want to do with Josephine? That is the thing that Josephine can’t seem to get past.
Reading about their blossoming relationship with a sprinkle of all of our favorite characters is what made me enjoy this book so much. And to add a little bit of interesting material, Caitlin does not believe in monogamy. That doesn’t go too much in-depth, but makes it a little bit more interesting to hear things from a different point of view.
I did really enjoy this book, I was not a fan of the constant body shaming. Josephine put upon herself, but aside from that it was great. What kept me from rating this five stars is that it did not elicit a big emotional response for me I liked it a lot, but I didn’t get all feels.

I was so shocked with this book and hated the MMC. He was a narcissistic, evil man. But did he meet his match?
I had no idea what was to come and just when I thought I was starting to get bored, there was a major turn of events.

Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or numb to all emotions? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between. Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone. Except Tatum. I love her so much that I hate her. I hate that I can't let her go. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her - or anyone else....

Jared’s POV
Revisado: 05-21-24
I know Penelope Douglas went to great measures to make sure this book wasn’t just a retelling of Bully. And it wasn’t completely a retelling…. But it was definitely very similar, down to the way Tate would say things.
Don’t get me wrong, I still highly enjoyed this one, but not really anything new from Bully.
Tate and Jared have a tumultuous relationship and it seems as though he does everything in his power to hurt Tate. Until he can begin to REALLY see her for who she is. That’s when things change… but it comes down to can Tate really trust that aging
A little bit of a repeat of Bully, but still a mixed emotions type of book

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Beautifully heartbreaking
Revisado: 02-27-24
This is a story of alternating timelines between 2010 and 1930’s in Russia. Meredith does not have a good relationship with her mom, so when her father dies, it’s devastating to the whole family. She has to call her sister Nina home to make arrangements and now the three of them have to navigate life together. Her father’s dying wish is for their mother to finish the fairytale she has started for them so many times.
Back in 1930’s Russia, Vera has two small children she is trying to raise while her husband has to go off to war. They fight through endless frigid temperatures with no heat and rations of food that are barely enough to keep them alive. It’s all the hardships Vera, Anya, Leo, and Vera’s mom have to deal with.
When Meredith and Vera start listening to the fairytale they start making connections to present day. It’s absolutely gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking. The first half of the book is a lot of background, but the second half tore my heart out. For some many reasons, both past and present.
I was so connected to this book and these characters. To the very last page, I couldn’t put it down.

All around great book
Revisado: 01-22-24
I’m not a historical fiction reader, typically. However, this was a KU book with great reviews, so I thought I’d give it a try.
I was completely blown away. It was an amazingly emotionally driven story with an alternating timeline. It goes back and forth between Scarlett Stanton and her granddaughter, Georgia.
Georgia is going through a messy divorce and moves back into her grandmother’s home. She is surprised to find that her estranged mother was pretending to be her and set up a meeting with an author to finish her grandmother’s final novel.
The alternate story is written about Scarlet’s time in the Women’s Auxiliary Airforce in the war torn town of Middle Wallop, England. Scarlett is always looking out for her sister Constance, and even more so when Constance’s life is torn apart.
I was so touched by this book. I don’t want to give too much away, but I really enjoyed this book and would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone.
