Historia
Saint Francis of Assisi is one of the most influential men in the whole of human history. This acclaimed biography of Saint Francis examines the life of a pure artist, a man "whose whole life was a poem". Here is the Saint Francis who prayed and danced with pagan abandon, who talked to animals, and who invented the crèche. Yet Francis also acknowledged the mystic responsibility to communicate his divine experience.

I was looking for a biography - this is definitely not that. Much of this book is just opinion or interpretation of abstract ideas. The author is not a good writer, which makes it difficult to follow what he is trying to convey. Narration is OK, I think wikipedia or perhaps a different book would probably provide more information on the life of St Francis. Would not recommend this one.

Bought this one thinking I would read the book then watch the Netflix show. The book was down right boring, kept thinking it was building up to something but turned out to be a Dud. The scariest part of the book was enduring the endless and pointless dialogue between the characters. Seven hours of complete boredom. BTW, the NETFLIX series is a totally different storyline, not really based on the book other than having a few of the characters names. Wouldn't recommend either the book or the show

But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

the title seemed intriguing and I bought it with the intent of reading it before watching the show. Essentially a John Wick type super hero. If you are just looking for an action book without an ounce of realism, then you might like it. Narration was decent.

Historia
Billy the Kid - a.k.a. Henry McCarty, Henry Antrim, and William Bonney - was a horse thief, cattle rustler, charismatic rogue, and cold-blooded killer. A superb shot, the Kid gunned down four men single-handedly and five others with the help of cronies. Two of his victims were Lincoln County, New Mexico, deputies, killed during the Kid's brazen daylight escape from the courthouse jail on April 28, 1881.

Interesting but too long
Revisado: 04-13-24
The first part of the book focuses on Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett - very interesting and informative. The actual killing of Billy the Kid almost seemed anti-climatic as the book transitions shortly thereafter to focus on the life of Pat Garrett, which could have been a separate book. Probably the final third of the book is focused on Pat Garrett and his struggles to make ends meet. Narration was decent but I recommend playing it at a little higher speed than what it was recorded at.

Same character, different name, still good
Revisado: 08-28-23
I love the Jon Cory books and this book is essentially another entry in that series - the characters names are different but their personas are so similar I had to wonder if this originated as a Cory book and maybe was later decided to change the names and start a new series Like the Cory books there are plenty of laugh out loud moments and the story itself is interesting. If you like the Cory books I think you will enjoy this book. Scott Brick is outstanding as always as the narrator. Definitely worth the credit

Historia
In July 1865, "Wild Bill" Hickok shot and killed Davis Tutt in Springfield, Mo., - the first quick-draw duel on the frontier. Thus began the reputation that made him a marked man to every gunslinger the Wild West. The legend of Wild Bill has only grown since his death in 1876, when cowardly Jack McCall famously put a bullet through the back of his head during a card game. Best-selling author Tom Clavin has sifted through years of Western lore to bring Hickock fully to life in this rip-roaring, spellbinding true story.

Revisado: 05-14-23
I read the Tombstone book by Mr Clavin and thoroughly enjoyed it, I bought this one thinking it would be similar but was greatly disappointed, I found it hard to believe the same person wrote it. Reads like a collection of articles or short stories stitched together. Unfortunately, I think you would get a better picture of Wild Bill by just looking him up on Wikipedia. There was so much unnecessary and in some cases unrelated filler that I had to wonder if there was some kind of minimum page count the author had to deliver to meet his contract. Narration was decent, the book was just too boring for the narrator to save. Would not recommend this one, but his book on Tombstone is very good.

Historia
Centuries ago, Spanish conquistadors searching for gold and new lands encountered a group of independent city-states in Mesoamerica. Sophisticated beyond the Spaniards' wildest imaginings, these people were the Aztecs, the Maya, and related cultures that shared common traditions of religion, government, the arts, engineering, and trade. In many ways more advanced than European nations, these societies equaled the world's greatest civilizations of their time.

Fascinating
Revisado: 04-09-23
Excellent course on Mesoamerica. Professor Barnhart does an amazing job of providing a very thorough history of a number of these civilizations - focusing primarily on the Mayan and Aztec cultures. His lectures were very informative and provided great deal of information that I was not aware of. A large part of the information was derived from archaeological evidence and the ability to discern the information from ruins and the few codex's that survive. Narration was excellent, well worth the credit

Best book I have read in quite some time - pulls you in right from the start. Fantastic story spanning the World War 2 era. Loved the characters and how the story line evolved and ultimately tied things together. I hope Mr Kestral writes more like it. Naration was exceptional. Exciting and very intriquing. Highly recommended, Well worth the credit.

Like many of the other reviewers, I love the Bobaverse novels. This one seemed to be something he put together to meet a contractual obligation. The story was lame, predictable and preachy. I would not recommend using a credit on this dud.
