I'm dedicated to the Chronicles of St Mary's series, and enjoy the Time Police spinoff, but I enjoyed this more than anything I've listened to lately. Fine mix of drama, action, and humor, as only Jodi Taylor can do it. and Zara Ram perfect for it.

Author created an interesting culture without exposition. Narration was crisp, with an unusual accent which fit the character, enhancing the reading. Hard to stop listening when I got to work.

Liking James Rollins and his scientific mind!

I really enjoy James Rollins, and this book introduces Painter Crow, future DARPA leader, as a field agent. lots of action, but also considerable background exposition. I found the action believable, in a James Bond sort of way, and the characters interesting, but the physics rather far-fetched.
Narration was fine, but I think a more sonorous reader might have added to the drama.
I would rate more believable Rollins books as fives, and others like this more like 4.5.
Best comparison I can think of is Clive Cussler - I mix them up, months after reading them.
Lest I leave the wrong impression, I recommend both the book and the author. I may be momentarily a bit burned out on the genre.

Especially when that mistress is Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator, queen of Egypt and the most notorious woman of her time? Answer: Julius Caesar - poised to become king of Rome. Or as good as.
