Historia
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

An enjoyable fiction book
Revisado: 08-18-22
I got the book on audible and as a reader of mostly nonfiction it took a while to settle into a fiction book. Once I did I enjoyed Wil Wheaton as narrator. The story was a sci-fi mystery. My audible purchase came with a prequel which was also good. I plan to find other books by this author.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Good Read
Revisado: 07-07-22
A very thorough explanation of infinite and finite games and thinking. The business examples are highly relevant and are explained in consumable detail. I have had the pleasure of working for a company with an infinite mindset so I understood when he talked about companies having a genuine purpose beyond themselves. I have also worked in places where the focus was just on the next quarter goals. It is my hope that more business people read books like this and are inspired toward more infinite thinking.

Historia
Don't Label Me shows that America's founding genius is diversity of thought. Which is why social justice activists won't win by labeling those who disagree with them. At a time when minorities are fast becoming the majority, a truly new America requires a new way to tribe out. Enter Irshad Manji and her dog, Lily. Raised to believe that dogs are evil, Manji overcame her fear of the "other" to adopt Lily. Defying her labels as an old, blind dog, Lily engages Manji in a taboo-busting conversation about identity, power, and politics.

Great ideas
Revisado: 06-13-22
Irshad makes some great points in her book. The perspectives are needed in today’s divided country. While I love animals, I did not fully like the conversations with her dog. I felt they cheapened the content and made it appear more juvenile. There were times when a conversation with the dog would have added something, but in a metered doses. Otherwise, her explanation about how labels dehumanize us was spot on.

Historia
The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.

Historia
Honest and unflinching, Without Buddha I Could Not Be a Christian narrates each spiritual dilemma that Knitter has struggled with and explains how a Buddhist worldview has allowed him to resolve each one. From the "petitioning" nature of Christian prayer to how Christianity views life after death, Knitter argues that a Buddhist standpoint can help inspire a more person-centered conception of Christianity, where individual religious experience comes first, and liturgy and tradition second.

A Must Read
Revisado: 05-12-22
I loved hearing about the synergies and mutual support of Buddhist and Christian religious concepts. As a Buddhist I gained so much respect for Christianity by listening to this book. My hope would be that others of any religion would experience the same. This book is a must read.

Great Story Told in Her Own Voice
Revisado: 02-24-19
I loved hearing not only about her time in the White House but also about her relationship with her husband and children. My favorite part was when she talked about Barack and magic beans (I won’t spoil it for you.). You get great insights into their characters and personalities. The book also provides hope for the future.
