Historia
April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the year, April was dead.

Tedious and annoying writing
Revisado: 07-14-24
This could have been a very short novella instead of an extraordinarily tedious and repetitive book. My first Ware book and last.

Don’t waste the abundant time required on a wandering, very poorly conceived story.

This was a great disappointment. The main character is NOT our beloved Poirot! He stumbles in one direction and then another again and again. And his partner in foolishness is certainly not our Hastings!

Historia
In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure, and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world, and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

Historia
Down a narrow alley in the small coastal town of Mallow Island, South Carolina, lies a stunning cobblestone building comprised of five apartments. It's called The Dellawisp and it's named after the tiny turquoise birds who, alongside its human tenants, inhabit an air of magical secrecy. When Zoey Hennessey comes to claim her deceased mother's apartment at The Dellawisp, she meets her quirky, enigmatic neighbors including a girl on the run, a grieving chef whose comfort food does not comfort him, two estranged middle-aged sisters, and three ghosts. Each with their own story.

Very disappointing.
Revisado: 10-04-22
Sarah Addison Allen has been my favorite author throughout her writing career. Her heartwarming magical realism was enthralling and uplifting in all of her wonderful books.
I’m this book though the characters, particularly Zoey, were hard to relate to. I can’t imagine a college aged girl with so little sensitivity and unmannered approach to personal interactions. I read her dialogue with gritted teeth.
And while invisible birds may be okay, I found ghosts way too much to swallow. I hope she’ll be back in her usual form for her next endeavor.

Historia
A naturalist who spent months at a time living on her own among wild creatures in remote jungles, Sy Montgomery had always felt more comfortable with animals than with people. So she gladly opened her heart to a sick piglet who had been crowded away from nourishing meals by his stronger siblings. Yet Sy had no inkling that this piglet, later named Christopher Hogwood, would not only survive but flourish.

A Blessing
Revisado: 08-14-22
I first discovered the author, Sy Montgomery, by reading her wonderful “The Soul of an Octopus “. I was unaware of her other literary achievements until I had the luck of reading “ The Good Good Pig”.
In the summer of 2022 there seems little to be celebrated in our world, especially the natural world . However , the story of Christopher Hogwood offers something to be considered as a miracle of love in these tough times. Beautifully written, read with great personality and understanding, and the story stands as a beacon for me and for other animal lovers.

Top slow
Revisado: 05-23-21
I was interested to start this book but almost at once found that the endless and irrelevant details bogged it down. I stuck with it but then the adapted French accent, combined with the extraneous information made it impossible to continue.
If you’re interested in well done novels set in France try my favorite, Nina George!

Mikael Blomkvist is trying to reach Lisbeth Salander—the fierce, unstoppable girl with the dragon tattoo. He needs her help unraveling the identity of a man who died with Blomkvist's phone number in his pocket—a man who does not exist in any official records and whose garbled last words hinted at knowledge that would be dangerous to important people. But Lisbeth has disappeared. She's sold her apartment in Stockholm. She's gone dark. She's told no one where she is. And no one is aware that at long last she's got her primal enemy, her twin sister, Camilla, squarely in her sights.

I really enjoy Ms. Grimes novels and this one was a good one. However, I cannot wait for Aunt Agatha’s demise. Maybe that could be a new Jury mystery- please?
