Good mystery

I enjoyed this book. The ending seemed a bit rushed but I was surprised at how the story turned out. Recommended for a light read or audiobook.

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

Excellent exploration of body image issues
Revisado: 07-21-20
I wasn’t sure I would like this book. I love Kristan Higgins but I thought a book about “fat” girls and eating issues wouldn’t be my favorite; however, this was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It’s about lasting friendships, body image, societal pressure to be thin, and so much more. I can’t articulate well enough how much I loved this book.

An utter disappointment
Revisado: 01-03-19
I loved the first 3 books by this author but got 3/4 through this one and had to give up. 3 stories happening at once in different time periods. Very disjointed. In the end, it just couldn’t keep me interested. The narrator was fine although I preferred the narrator of the first 3 books.

They say Paris is always a good idea.... You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office. Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me.

Stupid waste of time
Revisado: 08-22-18
Horrible writing, full of American idioms and slang It was too painful to finish. I only got through half of the story before I couldn’t take it any more! Joy is supposed to be a very well educated scientist but comes off as an American giggly girl stereotype in Paris. And there’s no way she is a Texan, much less from Austin!!! I felt no chemistry between the characters at all. Don’t waste your time or credit!

Ridiculous plot and inconsistent narration
Revisado: 05-10-18
This is one of the few books that I really just couldn’t finish. The storyline is so implausible and ridiculous that my eyeballs hurt from constantly rolling them (not literally😊). The narrator was so inconsistent with the Southern accent of the male character that I didn’t know who was speaking half the time. What a waste!

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Not her best - author or narrator
Revisado: 05-05-18
I have read all of this author’s previous books and enjoyed them. This book was very slow and I ended up speeding up the narration in order to finish more quickly. The narrator was particularly irritating. I have heard her before and never had this reaction. Her speech was very halting and I had to increase the volume considerably to hear her. I would not recommend this book but would recommend her previous works.

Historia
The year is 2008 and Samantha Kofer's career at a huge Wall Street law firm is on the fast track - until the recession hits and she gets downsized, furloughed, escorted out of the building. Samantha, though, is one of the "lucky" associates. She's offered an opportunity to work at a legal aid clinic for one year without pay, after which there would be a slim chance that she'd get her old job back. In a matter of days Samantha moves from Manhattan to Brady, Virginia, population 2,200, in the heart of Appalachia, a part of the world she has only read about.

Boring book, horrible narrator
Revisado: 11-07-14
I preordered this book thinking I would be ,at least, entertained. I REALLY tried to like this book. The narrator just read the book, slowly. There were no voice changes between characters so sometimes I wasn't sure which character was speaking. Plus, nothing really happened in this book. I felt like I was being preached to throughout the book. He could have at least attached a story to the preaching.

Historia
Lauren is downtown Chicago's youngest elite realtor. She's also a witch. She must be - the fetching spell for Witches' Chat isn't supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.

Very slow and the narrator was irritating
Revisado: 09-01-13
I couldn't even finish this book. The narrator sounded like she was reading to children!! It was a chore just to listen for a few minutes at a time. I kept hoping it would get better since this is the type of book I usually like and actually did listen to half of it but couldn't take the condescending irritatingly "sweet" narrator.
