A frightening dystopian world
Revisado: 11-17-24
Imagine if our society became host to a new organism that changed our very humanity. This audiobook was fantastic and left me wanting the next installment.

Historia
When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves... But perhaps most terrifying of all are the Dementors patrolling the school grounds, with their soul-sucking kiss...

Gut wrenching but so worth it
Revisado: 03-11-18
There were times during the reading of this book that I thought of returning it- not because it wasn’t a good story rather that it was so well done I could fully feel the emotions of each of the characters. Ms. Navin has created a work that drives to the heart of a very tough topic and helps listeners experience it through the eyes of a young child living through the horror of a mass school shooting, loss of a sibling and the effects of grief and trauma. As he processes his own grief, he becomes the guide for those around him to heal. Worth the heartache to listen to it. Gave me a perspective that was unexpected and valuable.

Historia
In this volume, Steven Johnson explores the history of innovation over centuries, tracing facets of modern life (refrigeration, clocks, and eyeglass lenses, to name a few) from their creation by hobbyists, amateurs, and entrepreneurs to their unintended historical consequences. Filled with surprising stories of accidental genius and brilliant mistakes - from the French publisher who invented the phonograph before Edison but forgot to include playback, to the Hollywood movie star who helped invent the technology behind Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

A perfect blend of science, history and storytelling
Revisado: 01-27-18
This book takes a look back through the science and history of many concepts and items that our modern world considers essential. Artificial light, cleanliness, glass, cold are some of the key topics but unpacking each one sheds light in unexpected places. Read with a good cadence and expression that told this captivating story perfectly.
