Historia
Did you know that there are more penises than women in the Bayeux Tapestry? That the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 was started and propelled by women who were protesting a tax on women? Or that Charles Darwin believed not just that women were naturally inferior to men, but that they’d evolve to become ever more inferior? These are just a few of the startling findings you will learn from listening to Philippa Gregory’s Normal Women. In this ambitious book, she tells the story of England over 900 years, for the very first time placing women—some fifty per cent of the population—center stage.

this book is more about the fluid sexuality of women through the ages than anything else. I heard more about how women used their genitals than anything else.

Rev. Dr. Stephen De Young, creator of the popular The Whole Counsel of God blog and podcast, traces the lineage of Orthodox Christianity back to the faith and witness of the apostles, which was rooted in a first-century Jewish worldview. The Religion of the Apostles presents the Orthodox Christian Church of today as a continuation of the religious life of the apostles, which in turn was a continuation of the life of the people of God since the beginning of creation.

Historia
What does it mean to "think Orthodox"? What are the unspoken and unexplored premises and presumptions underlying what Christians believe? Orthodox Christianity is based on preserving the mind of the early Church, its phronema. Dr. Jeannie Constantinou brings her more than 40 years' experience as a professor, Bible teacher, and speaker to bear in explaining what the Orthodox phronema is, how it can be acquired, and how that phronema is expressed in true Orthodox theology.

Revisado: 06-16-21
Presbytera Theologian Eugenia Scarvelis Constantinou explains what the Orthodox Phronema is and what it is not. This book should be read by as many Orthodox Christians and catechumens as possible. Especially if you interact online with the non Orthodox. She speaks with motherly wisdom and the authority of one who knows from long experience and training that which she speaks. Ortho Bros and gals would do well to head her admonitions. She definitely corrected me.

Historia
In one of his most enlightening works, C. S. Lewis shares his ruminations on both the form and the meaning of selected psalms. In the introduction he explains, "I write for the unlearned about things in which I am unlearned myself." Consequently, he takes on a tone of thoughtful collegiality as he writes on one of the Bible's most elusive books.

Historia
In the Closet of the Vatican is a fascinating description and evaluation of financial, sexual and political misconduct throughout the Catholic Church at a time when new revelations are being uncovered each and every week. This audiobook explores the underlying causes and includes interviews with numerous Cardinals and other individuals, some of whom cannot be named. Martel reveals financial scandals in the Vatican bank; political collusion with unsavoury regimes, including Castro’s Cuba and Pinochet’s Chile; sexual abuse and hypocrisy over homosexuality.

Heartbreaking
Revisado: 10-30-20
This book was very well researched and if you finish it you will not be able to think of the Catholic Church the same way again. The author does a tremendous job shedding light on the Vaticans closet and it’s extreme hypocrisy. He diagnoses the problems in the Vatican from an insiders perspective. He had an unusual level of access to high ranking officials within the Holy See. He exposes rank corruption at the highest levels as well as the worst sins of Princes or “Queens” of the Church.
Sadly the author is a militant homosexual and this colors almost the entire book. Anyone who is to the right of him is an extremist or “far right”. He attempts to marginalize traditional Catholics and other Christians this way. He is a textbook bigot, in the classical sense. The sad thing is that he doesn’t see it. The sees the world through the lenses of his sexuality. He freely admits his ignorance of the Bible and for that matter the Christian faith. He idolizes sexuality and it prevents him from truly understanding the religion that built Western Civilization. He is self impoverished in the truest sense.

Ancient Faith has produced a fresh update and redesign of a book cherished by a generation of seekers. Written in an accessible manner for the average lay person, Orthodox Worship offers insights into the Orthodox liturgy. Early Christians preserved a continuity of worship from the Old Covenant to the New, employing elements from the Jewish Temple liturgy, the synagogue liturgy, and the rituals of the Jewish home.

Revisado: 05-30-20
This book is really for catechumens or people inquiring into the Orthodox Church. It is well written and supported contrary to what another reviewer wrote. It will not satisfy cynics because that's not who the book was written for. It does explain Orthodox worship quite well at a popular level. check it out.

In Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary, Dr. Pitre takes listeners step-by-step from the Garden of Eden to the Book of Revelation to reveal how deeply biblical Catholic beliefs about Mary really are. Dr. Pitre uses the Old Testament and ancient Judaism to unlock how the Bible itself teaches that Mary is in fact the new Eve, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven and Earth, and the new Ark of the Covenant.

Reaffirming!
Revisado: 04-18-19
I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian who converted from Protestantism years ago. This was the book I needed when I was struggling with what the Church believes regarding Mary. Granted the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches do not see exactly eye to eye on every doctrine regarding Mary. Particularly with regards to how our respective Churches understand her sinlessnes which we both affirm, but articulate differently. I appreciate the Authors respect for the Eastern Church Fathers whom he quotes multiple times. This book is a must read for anyone wanting to understand Jewish and biblical roots of Marian dogmas. The authors is a first rate scholar and his historical and biblical exegesis is top notch. The best part of all is that he brings it down to a layman's level. That is what the best scholars are able to do and he does it. So whether you are struggling with the Churches teaching about Mary or know some who is, this book is a must. Check it out.

In this definitive biography, renowned Bible scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author N. T. Wright offers a radical look at the apostle Paul, illuminating the humanity and remarkable achievements of this intellectual who invented Christian theology - transforming a faith and changing the world. For centuries, Paul, the apostle who "saw the light on the Road to Damascus" and made a miraculous conversion from zealous Pharisee persecutor to devoted follower of Christ, has been one of the church's most widely cited saints.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C. S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging and humorous account of temptation - and triumph over it - ever written.
