Historia
Left unable to walk by a childhood illness, Lady Jennifer, sister of the Duke of Wilby, has grown up to make a happy place for herself in society. Outgoing and cheerful, she has many friends and enjoys the pleasures of the Season—even if she cannot dance at balls or stroll in Hyde Park. She is blessed with a large, loving, and protective family. But she secretly dreams of marriage and children, and of walking—and dancing. When Ben Ellis comes across Lady Jennifer as she struggles to walk with the aid of primitive crutches, he instantly understands her yearning.

Heartfelt Story
Revisado: 12-27-24
Of course, Roslyn Landor must always be mentioned first in an audiobook! She is perfection! I have to admit I wasn’t looking forward to this book in the series. But I decided to go ahead and listen to it, and I absolutely adore it! It is like a beautiful Valentine, lovely, warm and completely satisfying.

Of course, Susan Duerden is a masterful narrator. The story is a bit insipid. The plot is circular and really doesn’t move forward. It feels like it should have been 5 hours instead of 9.

Wonderful story!
Revisado: 06-25-24
Justine is always a fabulous narrator. This is a new author to me. I usually dislike stories told in first person, however this was lovely! I also love that there was no silly villain, spy, home office, death threat, etc to take the reader away from a beautiful romantic story. I’m on to Book 2!

The fairest flower in Mawbry is Erienne Fleming, the enchanting, raven-haired daughter of the village mayor. Charming, spirited, and exquisitely lovely, she is beset on all sides by suitors, any one of whom would pay a king's fortune for a place in her heart. But Erienne has eyes for only one: the dashing and witty young Yankee, Christopher Seton. But marriage for love is not to be, for her irresponsible and unscrupulous father, crippled by gambling debts, is intent on auctioning off his beautiful daughter to the highest bidder.

Not a great story
Revisado: 03-17-24
I have such respect for any writer that writes or records a book. This story was so muddled. It had everything in it but the kitchen sink and not in a good way. The saving grace of this story was in the narration by Rosylyn Landor. She can make anything come alive! She is the best narrator with men’s and women’s voices. Other than that I feel badly to have to leave this kind of review. Again, I have great respect for this author. It just felt there were too many plot lines, too many superfluous characters, and too much going on.

Like all the Bedwyn men, Aidan has a reputation for cool arrogance. But this proud nobleman also possesses a loyal, passionate heart - and it is this fierce loyalty that has brought Colonel Lord Aidan to Ringwood Manor to honor a dying soldier's request. Having promised to comfort and protect the man's sister, Aidan never expected to find a headstrong, fiercely independent woman who wants no part of his protection, nor did he expect the feelings this beguiling creature would ignite in his guarded heart.

I’ve listened to this many times and love it!! Susan Duerdan is fabulous! Her male and female voices are flawless. The story is definitely sexy, so if that isn’t your cup of tea, I’d pass. But, if it is, this one is funny, warm and a delicious story!

Fantastic audiobook!
Revisado: 10-21-21
I have hundreds of regency books in my library and this is a new fav. Of course, Justine Eyre’s performance is flawless! Megan Walker really developed her characters in a seamless way. If you like Mary Balogh’s books, Lakeshire Park follows in the same vein. If Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility is your jam, listen to this book. I was initially thrown off because it is spoken in first person, but I grew to love it. I want more from this author!!

Is it just me?
Revisado: 12-16-19
I think I'm too spoiled by Rosalyn Landor, Justine Eyre, and Susan Duerdon to enjoy listening to male narrators. I've really tried to listen to many of them!I think it's very difficult for men to make women sound feminine. The female narrators I love make all the guys sound real and masculine. So aside from the narration, taking nothing away from Mr. Rowe, who apparently everyone loves, this story felt a bit boring. Again, I realize I'm one of the very few who feels this way. The story between the hero and heroine feels extremely cold until they suddenly discover rhapsodic feelings for each other in a VERY short time. It doesn't build correctly for my taste. Again, I'm in the minority here.
