Historia
The world’s greatest bodybuilder. The world’s highest-paid movie star. The leader of the world’s sixth-largest economy. That these are the same person sounds like the setup to a joke, but this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold’s stratospheric success happened as part of a process. As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. All of it guided by the one lesson Arnold’s father hammered into him above all: be useful.

Ever inspiring
Revisado: 04-04-25
From Conan the barbarian to the terminator to governor to dedicating his life to giving back to Special Olympics, this man is on fire! I can see why he is so. Very versatile inspiring, considering his humble beginnings. Some stories in here I knew and some I didn’t. Either way, I really appreciated how it helped me in my life focus on what matters.

Historia
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

Valuable advice
Revisado: 03-08-25
Sometimes, an idea is not ready to put into the world—and it may not be released by you. An idea is spiritual and universal, it is not bound by the laws of gravity etc. a beautiful almost religious text to accompany any creative act.

Historia
Prompted by a neverending stream of letters pleading for advice on how to be a better writer, successful children’s authors Anne Mazer and Ellen Potter put their heads together to create this useful guide. With dozens of books and decades of experience between them, the authors brought their distinct personal styles to the advice they had to offer. Now they have done the same for this audio version, with each author narrating her own sections.

To be real, I read this book as an adult. I’m 29 years old and I’m sitting here. Thinking, I need to recommend all of this advice to my friends! Who are as old or older than me! What a fascinating and intriguing read.

Historia
When we think of fungi, we likely think of mushrooms. But mushrooms are only fruiting bodies, analogous to apples on a tree. Most fungi live out of sight, yet make up a massively diverse kingdom of organisms that supports and sustains nearly all living systems. Fungi provide a key to understanding the planet on which we live, and the ways we think, feel, and behave.

Definitely a mycophile!
Revisado: 12-30-22
I know I have Merlin Sheldrake through mutual friends, who go boating with him in British Columbia, and where I’m from. I decided to read his book because I am passionate about psychedelic medicine and have been self educating and advocating for research fundraising for almost a decade now. What a fascinating book! So much about hallucinogenic and non-hallucinogenic Medicinal mushrooms and not that was absolutely captivating to read about. Beautiful personal stories weaving in between interesting research.

Historia
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

Well worth it!
Revisado: 11-28-22
I really enjoyed the way the self-help book was told. The ideas are basic and simple yet the seed for powerful transformation. As somebody whose done a lot of self work, I appreciated this book. However, I know nothing about the author, and I would have wanted to know more about her journey, and her story in terms of how she came to write this book.
