Historia
Everyone in the small town of Central City, Texas loves Lou Ford. A deputy sheriff, Lou's known to the small-time criminals, the real-estate entrepreneurs, and all of his coworkers - the low-lifes, the big-timers, and everyone in-between - as the nicest guy around. He may not be the brightest or the most interesting man in town, but nevertheless, he's the kind of officer you're happy to have keeping your streets safe. The sort of man you might even wish your daughter would end up with someday. But behind the platitudes and glad-handing lurks a monster the likes of which few have seen.

Best inside mind of a sociopath ever
Revisado: 04-28-22
Written in mid/early 20th century, this is still the reigning champion of first person perspective storytelling, narrated by an antisocial protagonist.

Historia
In this rich new audio production, acclaimed British American actress Rebecca Hall brings one of E. M. Forster's most admired works to life in this classic tale of human struggle. A charming young Englishwoman, Lucy Honeychurch, is wooed by both free-spirited George Emerson and wealthy Cecil Vyse while vacationing in Italy. Though attracted to George, Lucy becomes engaged to Cecil despite twice turning down his proposals. On hearing of the news, George confesses his love, leaving Lucy torn between marrying the more socially acceptable Cecil or George, the man she knows would bring her true happiness. Should Lucy choose social acceptance or true love?

A treat to return to Forster
Revisado: 12-11-20
A beautiful novel delivered by such a talented narrator. I’m off to find Howard’s End and Maurice-hoping (ridiculously) for the same reader. Just magnificent

Historia
As the story opens: Two-year-old Greta Greene is sitting with her grandmother on a park bench on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. A brick crumbles from a windowsill overhead, striking her unconscious, and she is immediately rushed to the hospital. But although it begins with this event and with the anguish Jayson and his wife, Stacy, confront in the wake of their daughter's trauma and the hours leading up to her death, Once More We Saw Stars quickly becomes a narrative that is as much about hope and healing as it is about grief and loss.

A book of excruciatingly painfully Beauty
Revisado: 07-25-19
Wow!
Just finished listening to Jason’s story and I feel very much gratitude. He and Stacey’s choice to share this experience with the world was incredibly generous and I cannot imagine how difficult. There were unexpected lines that sent me into sobbing spells (he had just bought the Frog and Toad books, but Greta had not quite been ready for them.) What a brave, honest, raw, and philosophical book from a father who continues to live after losing the love of his life, his baby girl Greta.

Historia
She’ll never forget...I’ll never forgive. People always notice my daughter, Isobel. How could they not? Incredibly beautiful...until she speaks. An unsettling little-girl voice, exactly like a child’s, but from the mouth of a full-grown woman. Izzie might look grown up, but inside she’s trapped. Caught in the day it happened...the day that broke her from within. Our family fell apart that day, and we never could pick up the pieces....

BLUE RIBBONS across domains! ‘all have won and all must have prizes’ (paraphrase- L Carrol)
Revisado: 06-25-19
Terrifically presented ever-evolving characters.
Clear, well-paced, unpredictably (and non-annoyingly) twisty plot.
Emotionally gripping and provocative as a reading experience
Persistently Inspiring of further contemplation (mildly annoying-lol)

This book will help you. This book will amuse you. Whoever you happen to be
Revisado: 12-24-16
Unaccustomed to giving five stars in surveys, I do for this book, for that very reason. Gotta have a ruler, gotta have an example high mark on the bar. As a psychologist (20+ years) I am incorporating much of Pressmen "s philosophy regarding How to Live Life (and how to be a professional writer--I appreciate the new definition of that word!!) into my clinical practice. I'll also be recommending it to every person I know who I do not find abominable. Thanks so much!
