Historia
After touring the rural areas of Panga, Sibling Dex (a Tea Monk of some renown) and Mosscap (a robot sent on a quest to determine what humanity really needs) turn their attention to the villages and cities of the little moon they call home. They hope to find the answers they seek, while making new friends, learning new concepts, and experiencing the entropic nature of the universe. Becky Chambers's new series continues to ask: in a world where people have what they want, does having more even matter?

A World I Wish I Inhabited
Revisado: 12-07-24
The world-building, the mysticism, based on a holistic idea of what could be... it's what I long for most and I'm so grateful that Becky Chambers delivers that. Because Ai truly believe that if we can see it, we can be it.

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

So Much Possibility; So Much Insight
Revisado: 12-06-24
This book is a gift. And it truly is for anyone who "needs a break". Chambers' way of creating alternate worlds that so closely relate to ours makes me long for those worlds, even as I somehow take hope from them for ours. ♡

Historia
Hundreds of years ago, the last humans on Earth boarded the Exodus Fleet in search of a new home among the stars. After centuries spent wandering empty space, their descendants were eventually accepted by the well-established species that govern the Milky Way. But that was long ago. Today, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, the birthplace of many, yet a place few outsiders have ever visited. As many Exodans leave for alien cities or terrestrial colonies, those who remain are left to ponder their own lives and futures.

Revisado: 01-04-23
These stories I have known and loved for decades, and also some I didn't know at all, were told wonderfully by Gaiman himself and acted beautifully by this absolutely fantastic cast. I was transported. Truly enjoyable. 👍🏾 👍🏾

Historia
The Incrementalists - a secret society of 200 people with an unbroken lineage reaching back 40,000 years. They cheat death, share lives and memories, and communicate with one another across nations, races, and time. They have an epic history, an almost magical memory, and a very modest mission: to make the world better, just a little bit at a time. Their ongoing argument about how to do this is older than most of their individual memories. Phil, whose personality has stayed stable through more incarnations than anyone else’s, has loved Celeste - and argued with her - for most of the last 400 years.

The best of the Series
Revisado: 08-22-21
This book was so exciting, from beginning to end. I love all of the books in the series but this one was by far my favorite. The pacing, the characters, how it all ties together with Clay's Ark, the references to the other books. Everything.
My biggest problem is with the narrator, who's grasp on pronunciation leaves a little to be desired. (In the previous book he pronounces a single character's name two different ways!). But he is pleasant to listen to and it certainly didn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the story. So there you have it.
All the thumbs, all the way up!
