This was a bit different from the previous ones. But, it was still very good and enjoyable. The scene with the enchanter choked me up. Very emotional scene! Loved it!!

So much fun!
Revisado: 07-12-23
This is a delightfully fresh story. The concept is very cool and fun. It is a neat mix of science and nerdy sci-fi that results in an extremely entertaining tale that is hard to pause. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook! Mr. Porter is a super star of a narrator. He did an amazing and fun reading of this book. His voice characterizations made this listen seamless and easy to follow the conversations. Especially since most of the dialogue is between the same person! Well done! I look forward to the rest of the series.

Not your typical apocalyptic tale
Revisado: 06-22-23
This was an enjoyable story. It was a very feel good story wrapped up in a tragedy. There are no zombies or marauding hordes. The characters are very human and average. There are no special forces killer/survival types. But, where it shines is by having average people come together and solve very down to earth problems. I did find myself eager to get in the car and turn it on.

Great story. But.....
Revisado: 03-30-22
I have enjoyed the first book in this series immensely. I also enjoyed the story in this book also. ...I enjoyed the STORY.... For some reason, the author thought it necessary to include a very large section of rhetoric on real life politics and her apparent dislike of Donald Trump. The author spent a Huge amount of time to express her feelings on the former president that really did not fit into the story well. It felt very out of place. Not to mention, as I listen to this almost 2 years after he is out of office, it really dates a book that would have otherwise been timeless. That was disappointing.
Also, there was a point in the book where the timeline got very confused. One character, Torin, (no real spoiler here...) was missing. During this part of the story, one minute, he is missing, the next, he is standing in the Inn. Then, he is missing again. Then he's not... If flipped back and forth like there was some major editing errors that got cut and paste and never fixed. It didn't really have a huge impact on the story, Just confusing and distracting.
That being said, and out of the way, the rest of the book was very good. I do enjoy the depth of the characters and the details that were put into the surroundings that really put you into the setting. That was very well written. I am also looking forward to the next book... which I have already purchased. But, if the author chooses to put in more political rhetoric as in this book, I probably won't purchase another one.

In John Scalzi's best-selling Old Man's War series of science-fiction novels, we see this warrior woman as the other characters see her - silent and strong, from the outside. But now The Sagan Diary shows us Sagan from another point of view: her own, as she prepares to leave military life and join her new husband and adopted daughter on a colony world.

Missing something….
Revisado: 09-14-21
While I did enjoy the insight of the details with the Administrator, the rest was rather slow and hard to stay interested in. I have totally loved the previous books, and look forward to the following ones. But, this one didn’t really do it for me. The narrator was so emotionless and dry that I kept having to rewind and re-listen to parts to catch what was said.

How do you tell your part in the biggest tale in history? I ask because it's what I have to do. I'm Zoe Boutin Perry: A colonist stranded on a deadly pioneer world. Holy icon to a race of aliens. A player (and a pawn) in a interstellar chess match to save humanity, or to see it fall. Witness to history. Friend. Daughter. Human. Seventeen years old. Everyone on Earth knows the tale I am part of. But you don't know my tale: How I did what I did—how I did what I had to do—not just to stay alive but to keep you alive, too.

Decent part of the tale, but not the best.
Revisado: 09-02-21
While I did enjoy this alternative view of the previous book. It was just that… a retelling if the last book with a different perspective. It did have some extra details that filled out the scenes from before. I did appreciate that.
The narrator did a good job of reading the story and creative inflection on the different voices. However, She pronounced several of the names so differently than the narrator of the previous books, that several times I didn’t know who she was talking about right away. You would think that 4 books in would be a good clue to do some research on things as basic as that. That was a HUGE distraction from the story for me.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. But, not as much as the others so far. It could have been skipped without missing much I think.

A MUST HAVE!!!!!!
Revisado: 02-01-21
Scott Sigler has once again flexed his writing muscles and shown his prowess and mastery in the SciFi/Horror genre! This story is a rollercoaster without breaks! Step in side....sit down....shut up....AND BUCKLE UP!!! You will be sure to enjoy the ride.
The story is deep (pun intended), the characters are full and realistic. The narration is so good, that the voice fades away and all you see is the movie playing out in your head.
Enough of me yammering on about this. Pick this one up and experience it for yourself. You will be hungry for more!

I really enjoyed this story. The main character went through a blender of an experience. The way he handled it was very entertaining. The plot was new and exciting. I will be getting the next book in the series.
The narrator did his job very well. The voices were distinct and consistent. He conveyed character emotions extremely well. He did an excellent job of taking me into the story.
I highly recommend this one. It kept my commutes very entertaining. I actually looked forward to the drive to and from work! Thanks.
