Historia
Thirty years in New York City's public schools led John Gatto to the sad conclusion that compulsory schooling does little but teach young people to follow orders like cogs in an industrial machine. With over 100,000 copies in print since its original publication in 2002, this book is collection of essays and speeches and includes a describes the wide-spread impact of the book and Gatto's "guerrilla teaching". John Gatto was a teacher in New York City's public schools for over 30 years and was a New York State Teacher of the Year.

So glad I found this. Learning a lot about deliverance and fasting. I like how the verses are quoted within the text instead of just referenced.

If you're skeptical about NDEs, you should buy this book. If you're depressed and needing encouragement, you should buy this book. If you're growing weary waiting for the rapture, you should buy this book. If you're all three, this may be one of the best books you ever read.

I wish this book existed in my teens!
Revisado: 10-10-21
THIS was the book I was looking for in my teens, a clear, concise analysis of why to believe the Bible WITHOUT using the Bible as a proof. An explanation of why Jesus matters. This book does that and more. The amazing detailed pictures (I bought the paperback too) and the murder cold case no body homicide details are icing on the cake. SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY ENGLISH SPEAKER.

Historia
What's hiding in your heart? Deep down, every woman longs to feel loved and secure. We may think we look to God for these things, but in reality we often run to food, Facebook, or friendship first. Worshipping God’s gifts is idolatry. And idolatry destroys intimacy with God and steals our joy. In this audiobook, author Dee Brestin brings unfailing principles and vivid testimonies - from Scripture, her own life, and the lives of women who have tested these truths and are excited to tell about their transformations.

So good. This is the book I was looking for, one about idolatry that sneaks in and gets labelled "acceptable" even in churches. This book is like a double edged sword. Read it.

Calming
Revisado: 03-19-20
I got both the audiobook & hardcover book, and I’m glad I did. Single-tasking through this book and not scrolling social media while I listened had a very calming effect. I’m already implementing some of the strategies from this book in my life. This evening, life with a toddler felt less chaotic. I felt like I was actually present, like I want to be.

The Possibility Mom: How to be a Great Mom and Pursue Your Dreams at the Same Time

Historia
The Possibility Mom helps moms be less stressed, feel less guilt, and get more done while chasing their dreams. Balancing the demands of modern motherhood is a tough job. Between kids, work obligations, social commitments, and household duties, trying to fit in a little me time (let alone a date night), balance can seem practically impossible. When moms do well at work, they feel like they’re failing at home, and when they focus on their family, they feel like they’re falling behind at work.

Amazing. Best Productivity Book for Moms I've Read
Revisado: 03-12-20
This is the most relatable and practical book I've read recently for moms with jobs, both stay-at-home-entrepreneur moms and go-to-work moms. This book made me feel calm and hopeful. Lisa Canning is a non-judgemental soothing voice of wisdom.

Historia
One of the great what-ifs among Pride & Prejudice aficionados is: If Mr. Collins married Mary Bennet instead of Charlotte Lucas, how would that influence Mr. Darcy's dogged pursuit of the elusive Elizabeth? In this breezy and hilarious re-telling of Jane Austin's classic novel, the author explores what would have changed - and what would have not - had two of literature's most self-righteous characters found their way together. Elizabeth Bennet goes to Kent with her sister Jane, and the fur flies! A wonderful, mad-cap romp!

Thoroughly Enjoyed It
Revisado: 01-22-20
What if Dr. Who went back in time and accidentally tripped Mary Bennet - and in so doing altered the entire flow of events in Pride & Prejudice? Rest assured, Dr. Who is not in this book. I picked up this book because I always secretly wanted Mary and Mr. Collins to get together. I kept reading because it felt like I was watching the deleted scenes of Pride & Prejudice. The author uses the phrase "I believe I will be ill now" far too much, but other than that, a very fun read.
