Historia
In 2007, Joseph Ratzinger published his first book as Pope Benedict XVI in order “to make known the figure and message of Jesus”. Now, the Pope focuses exclusively on the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life as a child. The root of these stories is the experience of hope found in the birth of Jesus and the affirmations of surrender and service embodied in his parents, Joseph and Mary.

Join Fr. Joe Roesch, MIC, as he reads "The Mystical Temple of God" by St. Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary Papczyński (1631-1701), priest and founder of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Saint Stanislaus left no doubt as to what purpose and to whom this work, which he had written and published in Krakow, Poland, in 1675, was to serve. The information provided on the title page makes it clear: “This work is beneficial for people of all walks of life, and it is useful especially for sermons at the consecration of a church.” It's clear St...

Join Fr. Joe Roesch, MIC, as he reads from the journal of Blessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz (1871-1927), the “Renovator” of the Congregation of Marian Fathers. As both a bishop and archbishop, Blessed George was recognized for his work as an apostle of unity during tumultuous times in his native Lithuania. Throughout his life, he launched important initiatives that mobilized the laity for the greater good of the Church. And without Blessed George, there would be no Marian Congregation today. Listen to “The Journal of Blessed George Matulaitis with Fr. Joe Roesch” by visiting ...

Historia
Jesus said, "Whoever wishes to come after Me, must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24). This is what Christians have been trying to do for centuries: to become like Christ. The old expression was "imitating Christ"; now we say, "following Christ," walking in His footsteps, to become like Him. Join Fr. Joe Roesch, MIC, as he reads the spiritual classic, "The Imitation of Christ," from beginning to end. It was written in the 1400s, yet sounds like it was written yesterday. Translated into languages all over the world, it is said to be the most well-read book in the ...

Fr. Roesch does an amazing job with this podcast. I have read the Imitation of Christ before and it had a profound impact on my spiritual journey - Fr. Roesch enhanced that experience with his excellent and holy commentary after reading each chapter. He has done a similar podcast for the diary of St. Faustina that was also wonderful and I would highly recommend that as well. Thank you Fr. Roesch!

Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

I had high expectations for this work, and they were exceeded. This book is truly inspirational. Any human being interested in living a more virtuous and productive life would benefit immeasurably from reading or listening. Should be required reading all high schools in my opinion.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.
