Interesting but slow

I am only halfway through the second book in this box set, and will update if I ever make it all the way through. I enjoy the story pretty well. Unfortunately, it seems to be unraveling a little slowly.
The main reason I may not be able to finish is that I find the narrator a little grating. I have listened to some of his work previously, but over time his style has really worn on me. He has a tendency to upspeak, or raise the tone on the last word of nearly every sentence, and the result feels like the sentence isn’t quite finished, or even feels whiny. Especially when he is narrating the dialogue for strong characters such as those in the military, it doesn’t ring quite right.

My kids LOVE the Epic Zero series. The story is engaging, and the performance is spectacular. We have started reading through the rest of the series on our own, but my kids can’t wait for the rest of the books to come out on Audible because the voice acting is truly the best we have ever heard and make the exciting story truly come alive.
