Terrible Follow Up to Book 1

I was so excited to start this book, having just finished Book 1, that I bought it outright, not waiting for my next Credit. I was sorely disappointed.

The story started off pretty dark, even though that’s the genre, The main “victim”character was really enjoyable, having survived horror and come out strong and resilient, someone to respect. But the character of Ryan was so pitiable and weak, timid and boring. He lost all of his heroic qualities from Book 1. And the relationship he enters into with Holly is so childish; it was sweet, but the back-and-forth conversations between them was frustrating and way too drawn out.

The worst part, to me, was the convoluted and entirely unbelievable explanation of the ending with the star victim. Her end-of-story monologue was repetitive and just completely nonsensical, a horribly disappointing wrap up. And the final words at the very end … miserable.

I just cannot recommend that you spend your hard-earned money on this one. It was a huge disappointment.

The reading was horrific! Sooooooo monotone and dissassociative … I nearly gave up, but forwarded several chapters in and found my footing.
