A breath of fresh air.

So nice to listen to a "realistic" first contact story that is not overly fraught or serious.
A really nice narration that captured the voice of the main character which seemed very down to earth and relatable.
I also loved the inclusion of a song recommendation for each chapter.
I certainly hope the sequel is written just as well, for I will be following this author.

Jack Voraces blew my socks off with this over the top narration. Hilarious!
Imagine a drunken Scotsman regaling you with a crazy sci-fi tale.
So much energy.
I just wish, like others, that it was longer.
Oh well, I'm now in a hurry to read part 2!

A simple fantasy quest story.

A group of travelers (or folk) as they are called, travel to unknown lands to discover what has happened to another group of folk in this simple, underground quest. For fans of LOTR and the like as I kept imagining the protagonists as hobbits. This never turned the corner into sci-fi as I was hoping. I feel that without the great narration, including additional sound effects, this title wouldn't have gotten the following or reach that it has. Hopefully the sequels improve on this humble beginning.

What a wonderful experience getting to listen to this title. I had no idea about it and would have passed on it had it not been recommended. It is full of twists and turns and relatable social mores that kept me wanting to know more. I feel like this could have been set in modern day Portland, OR, but maybe I am biased. I only wish the author's other titles were available on audio.
Another reason to select this title is the narrator. I have listened to hundreds of books and this may be the best narrator I've ever heard. Amazing. Felt, at times, like I was listening to a full cast recording. I will certainly be checking out more of his titles.

Loved this book, So many interesting and surprising facts about the food and cooking we deal with every day. How to get the most juice from a lime? What is the best material when picking out a pan? This second in the Scythe series is an amazing leap over the first book, although I enjoyed that as well. The larger concepts and the flushing out of the Thunderhead character make me want to read this again.
