Great Story but Narration for some characters could be better
Revisado: 01-09-25
Loved the story. Only down side is Kate Reading is not a very talented voice actor; only has a few voices and all male voices are more or less the same. Difficult job, however, when you contrast to Kramer’s much greater diversity of voices he crafts for the characters it suggests something better is indeed feasible.

Historia
Fifteen years have passed since the devastating war between the Galt Empire and the cities of the Khaiem, in which the Khaiem's poets and their magical power known as "andat" were destroyed, leaving the women of the Khaiem and the men of Galt infertile. The emperor of the Khaiem is trying to form a marriage alliance between his son and the daughter of a Galtic lord, hoping the Khaiem men and Galtic women will produce a new generation to help create a peaceful future.

Best of the Series
Revisado: 07-07-24
If you stuck it out until the last novel, this one is the best. The writing by book four has finally come into its own. I still think the poses are not done well (never describes what people actually look like when they do poses), but they are fine in this novel or maybe you just get used to it. There are a few weak spots here and there but I think overall the characters are not corny and the plot is interesting, which I think books one and two suffer from. Ultimately, if you have read 1-3, definitely read 4.

Historia
Otah Machi, ruler of the city of Machi, has tried for years to prepare his people for a future in which the magical andat, entities that support their commerce and intimidate all foes, can no longer be safely harnessed. But his efforts are too little, too late. The Galts, an expansionist empire from across the sea, have tired of games of political espionage and low-stakes sabotage. Their general, a ruthless veteran, has found a way to do what was thought impossible: neutralize the andat.

Best Book Yet
Revisado: 06-23-24
Abraham seems to be finding his groove a bit more in this book. Overall much less corny than the previous two (especially one) and also had a more clearly defined zenith. I liked that we got a closer look at the magic in this book, however, it still seems a bit black-boxed from the reader, although much less so than in the previous two books. A 3.5 for me only because I still feel his characters are still a bit too melodramatic.

Historia
The powerful city-state of Saraykeht is a bastion of peace and culture, a major center of commerce and trade. Its economy depends on the power of the captive spirit Seedless, an and at bound to the poet-sorcerer Heshai for life. Enter the Galts, an empire committed to laying waste to all lands with their ferocious army. Saraykeht has always been too strong for the Galts to attack, but now they see an opportunity.

Corny Voice Acting
Revisado: 06-03-24
The voice acting for a several of the characters, but especially Seedless, is pretty bad. There is way too much drama added to the voice when it seems like the source material is calling for much less. The story itself is fairly interesting, with the weakest part being how the romance is written and the best part being the way magic exists, however, the magic itself is significantly under explored—leaning into that system would have helped spruce up the story quite a bit.

Excellent novel, Beautiful Writing, Bad Child Voice Acting
Revisado: 10-04-23
Everything was great except the voices for the kids. Really bad. Not even close to how 13 year olds sound and Will was needlessly made more whiny than needed be.

Can’t Delete/Disappointing News
Revisado: 07-08-20
Can’t select from library—Amazon please help!
The news itself is average. Sometimes you get an occasional gem, but a lot of the NYT is pro-war (sold us the lie that got us into Iraq), pro-wall street, pro-corporate healthcare, and sold us the Trump-Russia collusion non-story wasting a lot of energy that could have been devoted the real crime plaguing the US—corporate crime. As the “paper of record”, we should expect more.
Amazon, please allow us to delete/unsubscribe etc. so it doesn’t flood library. Will make navigating Kindle lib a lot easier.

Won’t let you remove
Revisado: 07-08-20
As others have pointed out, the fact that you cannot remove is really annoying and is not worth supporting until you can. Simple fix that is maybe (although strongly suspect less) is a day’s pay for one individual, which would be appreciated by many customers.
Content wise, the WaPo is average, with the occasional good story and the not not infrequent propagandist pro-war crap and not to mention the wasting all our time with the not-story of Trump-Russia collusion (like their time would not have been better spent reporting on poverty, environmental destruction, and corporate crime)
