Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

A great storyteller
Revisado: 07-29-22
I’m not a huge Springsteen fan. Have a few albums. Never been to a show. But I enjoy a good rock documentary without being a irritable rock nerd. With that, I found this title very enjoyable. It is THOROUGH and it is long. EG: He spends a full two minutes (or so) on the photographer of the “Darkness…” album cover. But he is articulate storyteller and his lyrical skills are in full view here. His delivery is patient and measured without being bland. It is the opposite of his live shows (from what I understand) as it’s if he’s talking to you, and not a room of listeners. Good stuff. When it ended, I was sad to have reached the end. I suppose that is the bottom line of this review.

Uneven
Revisado: 01-18-22
Hot and cold…the shorter chapters/vignettes hit the strike zone with more regularity whereas the longer stories almost became a bit tedious and indulgent…like Simon lost his way. I ended a couple with the reaction “well, there’s 30 min of my life I’ll never get back”. Hard to enthusiastically recommend even though there are some true diamonds included. Good but not great.

Historia
One night in 1967, 26-year-old John Donohue - known as Chick - was out with friends, drinking in a New York City bar. The friends gathered there had lost loved ones in Vietnam. Now, they watched as anti-war protesters turned on the troops themselves. One neighborhood patriot came up with an inspired - some would call it insane - idea. Someone should sneak into Vietnam, track down their buddies there, give them messages of support from back home, and share a few laughs over a can of beer. It would be the Greatest Beer Run Ever.

A good read that moves along nicely

Entertaining and fun read if you're even vaguely into history. A story and chain of events that would seem impossible to replicate these days.

Historia
Many people dream of escaping modern life, but most will never act on it. This is the remarkable true story of a man who lived alone in the woods of Maine for 27 years, making this dream a reality—not out of anger at the world, but simply because he preferred to live on his own.

A four hour book "crammed" into six hours
Revisado: 08-10-21
An interesting story but ultimately it was just too long and tedious for me. The topic/tone was too slow. Around the middle I was growing bored and just wanting it to "be done, already!" Kinda like when they make a movie when all they really needed was a 30 min special. Not bad, just exhausting.
