Historia
Tensions between the fae and humans are coming to a head. And when coyote shapeshifter Mercy and her Alpha werewolf mate, Adam, are called upon to stop a rampaging troll, they find themselves with something that could be used to make the fae back down and forestall out-and-out war: a human child stolen long ago by the fae.

Anna Is Growing
Revisado: 02-02-25
Another very good installment in the series. I like how Anna is exploring her powers and how supportive Charles is of her. I found the expansion of Leah’s storyline interesting too.

Historia
I am Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman. My only “superpowers” are that I turn into a 35 pound coyote and fix Volkswagens. But I have friends in odd places and a pack of werewolves at my back. It looks like I'm going to need them. Centuries ago, the fae dwelt in Underhill - until she locked her doors against them. They left behind their great castles and troves of magical artifacts. They abandoned their prisoners and their pets. Without the fae to mind them, those creatures who remained behind roamed freely through Underhill wreaking havoc. Now one of those prisoners has escaped.

True Friendship
Revisado: 02-02-25
I love how central true friendship is to these stories. Not perfect friendship, true friendship, with its flaws and missteps and makings of amends.

Historia
In the wilds of the Northern California mountains, all the inhabitants of a small town have gone missing. It's as if the people picked up and left their possessions behind. With a mystery on their hands and no jurisdiction on private property, the FBI dumps the whole problem in the lap of the land owner, Aspen Creek, Inc. - a.k.a. the business organization of the Marrok's pack. Somehow, the pack of the Wolf Who Rules is connected to a group of vanished people. Werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham are tasked with investigating.

Backstory
Revisado: 02-02-25
Well, that was certainly interesting. I got answers to some questions I've been wondering about. Chiefly how and WHY Bran and Leah got together. Briggs has really spent some good effort chipping away at my dislike for Leah in these last couple of books by filling us in on her backstory and showing more of her than petty jealousy. I'm in awe of how many avenues Briggs has opened up for exploration in just one novel. I am looking forward to seeing which one she takes next.
I really appreciate the inclusivity of the worlds she builds in this series as well as the Mercy Thomson books.

Historia
Walt Longmire returns in this twentieth installment of the award-winning and bestselling series that has been a hit on both the page and the screen. Set in the unsoiled countryside of Wyoming, Sheriff Walt Longmire has to navigate his own increasingly complicated personal life with the ever-changing and often violent underworld that encroaches on what was once referred to as the Old West. This time, he is up against a sinister plot that could hurt the people closest to him and forever change the way he sees his beloved Wyoming.

Good Backstory For Walt and Henry
Revisado: 02-02-25
In a series, I enjoy when we get to go back in time and peek into the crucibles that shaped my main characters. First Frost gave me the chance to do that with Walt and Henry. I was riveted to the portion of the story that took place in 1964 and shone a light not only on a pivotal time in Walt and Henry's lives but also on one of the most shameful acts of the American government, the interment of peoples of Japanese decent during WWII.
George Guidall's narration isn't as crystal-clear as it once was but it still beats the pants off most other narrations and I can't imagine anyone else telling me Walt's stories.

Historia
Freakishly smart. That’s the unwelcome box Ru Evans is put into for life. After all, she taught herself Euclidean geometry at age seven, has an eidetic memory, and is about to enter college at thirteen years old. Boarding at a house near campus 150 miles from home, Ru meets seventeen-year-old Gabriel, an outsider himself who, like Ru, has trouble making friends—until they form a fast sibling-like bond. Finding a relatable someone in the world to talk to is a first for both of them.

Freedom Born of Tragedy
Revisado: 01-27-25
Sometimes awful events lead to self discovery and growth. That's what happens to Ru in this coming of age story and we get to take that journey with her.
Hyde has a knack for writing interpersonal relationships that are meaningful and deep and Ru and Gabriel's friendship is no exception. I enjoyed their instant connection and comfort with one another and the us against them roadtrip of a lifetime.
I can definitely see myself listening to this one again.

Lou has enough confusion in front of her this summer. Historia
Things are looking up for Detective Sanne Jensen and Dr. Meg Fielding. Dating each other seems to be working, their families are behaving themselves, and the worst of the post-Christmas crime wave is over. The discovery of a Pakistani girl's body out on the moors changes all that. No one knows who she is, who hurt her, or how she came to be there. As pressure mounts on East Derbyshire Special Ops for a quick resolution, it becomes ever more apparent that the case won't provide one.

Historia
Detective Sanne Jensen (not blonde, not tall, definitely not Scandinavian) and Dr. Meg Fielding (scruffy, scatterbrained, prone to swearing at patients) are lifelong best friends, sharing the same deprived background and occasionally the same bed. When a violent kidnapping stuns the Peak District village of Rowlee, both women become involved in the case.

Auto-Buy Author/Narrator Combination
Revisado: 11-21-24
Cari Hunter and Nicola Victoria Vincent have sealed the deal with this effort and have become an auto-buy author/narrator combination for me. As soon as I finished this audiobook I purchased the next two in the series.
While the crime investigated is gruesome and heart wrenching there is plenty of levity and geniune affection between characters to balance it out.

Historia
Jemima Pardon, a paramedic with a daft name and chronic asthma, has never had much in the way of good luck. The only things she attracts are traumatic jobs, and no one wants to work with her for long. But when Jem bumps into devil-may-care police officer Rosie Jones, her fortunes seem to be changing. Rosie is bright and funny, and she doesn’t mind that Jem can’t go far without her inhaler.

Unputdownable
Revisado: 10-12-24
I came for the mystery and got swept away by the lovable main characters so much so that I had trouble putting this away and listened every chance I got. A friend once told me that she sees books she reads or listens to like movies and this audiobook is probably the closest I have ever come to that experience. The characters, scenes and experiences are so well described that I had no trouble imagining them all. The narrator, Nicola Vincent, did an excellent job voicing the different characters and told the story in a way that kept me riveted. I would love to listen to more books about Jem and Rosie.
