Historia
People come to Los Angeles to chase their dreams. Sometimes they find themselves cast into a nightmare. And sometimes, the most ardent dreamers turn out to be the most vicious monsters. The body of an aspiring actress is found dumped near a hospital emergency room. She’s been drugged and murdered and the motive for the callous crime remains maddeningly out of reach. Until, a prime suspect materializes. Another Hollywood hopeful. Only to be shot dead by a sniper using a weapon that turns out to have been catalogued in a previous murder. And another, before that.

Historia
The mission seems simple enough: Extract a pharmaceutical magnate from Russian soil. But nothing is as it appears to be. A desperate call thrusts Captain Tucker Wayne and his stalwart military dog, Kane, into a frantic race to rescue the brilliant-but-deluded Abram Bukolov from a cadre of skilled assassins. Hunted and betrayed at every turn, Tucker and Kane must discover the truth behind a horror out of the ancient past that can be weaponized to terrorize the modern world. As time rapidly runs out, the deep and intimate bond between dog and soldier will be tested to the extreme.

Man and dog shine
Revisado: 09-20-24
I have read every James Rollins book and am a true fan. As an owner of a Belgian Malenois, this book intrigued me immediately. it did not disappoint. The biological threat to the planet was a great setting for Tucker and Kane to begin their literary journey together. Their backstory was nicely interwoven into the story. The action kept the story moving forward well and the protagonists were as villainous as always. A great addition to the Sigma universe. I have already ordered "War Hawk" and will be eagerly awaiting the latest novel promised for 2025.

I loved this book. Scottoline lets Mary shine on her own as she changes the dynamic between Mary and Bennie. Bennie sees Mary ,for the first time, as a fierce force to be reckoned with. Mary defends her friend Simon at all costs. Kate Burton does a great job narrating as always.
