Historia
I didn’t turn up uninvited. He asked me to come. He didn’t need to ask twice. He knew I’d agree. Kind Laura. Obedient Laura. Laura the soft-spoken schoolteacher with the faded cardigans and flat shoes. Nobody ever suspected someone like me would appeal to handsome, charismatic, happily married Ralph. I think even he was surprised by his choice. But I’m used to people underestimating me. But then maybe I underestimated Ralph, too. Because I never thought he’d be capable of doing what he did. It wasn’t only dangerous, it was very, very wrong.

I just can't anymore
Revisado: 05-07-21
I can't get past chapter 30. I literally have fallen asleep 4 times trying to listen. I just go back to where I left off and boom...fall asleep at chapter 30 - again. Nothing has happened past the 2nd chapter. The main character, Laura, just goes on and on about her feelings. It's so repetitive and incredibly boring that I'm not the least bit interested in finding out what Ralph has done. Definitely in the top 5 worst books I've listened to.

To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Not great
Revisado: 03-10-21
Story was mediocre at best and the escape plan was so far fetched it was absolutely ridiculous. The voice of Jack was like nails on a chalkboard and ALL of the adult male characters sounded exactly the same.

Historia
Amy Tan takes us deep into the illicit world of 1912 Shanghai, where beautiful courtesans mercilessly compete for the patronage of wealthy gentlemen. For the women, the contest is deadly serious, a perilous game of economic survival that, if played well, can set them up for life as mistresses of the rich and prominent. There is no room for error, however: Erotic power is hard to achieve and harder to maintain, especially in the loftiest social circles. Enter veteran seducer, Magic Gourd, formerly one of Shanghai’s “Top Ten Beauties” and now the advisor and attendant of Violet, an aspiring but inexperienced courtesan.

I don't get the hype and all the rave reviews. I thought this was excruciatingly boring. Nothing like her other books (which I love). Very disappointing.

It was well written, the narration was great, the characters were all very interesting, and there were so many twists that I did not see coming. One of the best audibles I've listened to (and I've listened to over 370).

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

From beginning to end this book was excruciating to listen to. Clare was so whiny and annoying and the "BIG secret" was quite obvious within the first 30 minutes. Complete waste of time and money.

Save your money/credit
Revisado: 10-24-20
If you're interested in knowing about all the different emojis and text messages between two BFF's that sound like they're in middle school talking about what outfit they should wear, then this is your book. I find it quite odd that the author would keep years of text messages and actually had the time to go through all of them in order to write a "tell all".
Listening to her go on and on about what a great friend she was to Melania while complaining about not getting paid as her "assistant" was annoying. If you're working for your BFF why wouldn't you feel comfortable to ask for a salary? Because she has no backbone, that's why.
The narration is just painfully monotone and made the 11 hours and 22 minutes drag out as though it was a 30 hour long audio book. This book was a waste of time and money.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 10-24-20
As I was listening to the book I thought I had it figured out and was ready to be disappointed because, like so many other books, it was so predictable, but I gotta say, I was actually surprised. The narration was good and the twist at the end made it worth the credit.

Boring
Revisado: 10-24-20
From the get go the characters were sad, boring, and depressing to listen to. They simply had no depth which made it difficult to get into, much less finish. I'm also not a fan of a book waiting 'til the last 10 minutes to tie everything together (even though the ending here was ridiculously predictable). Total waste of time and money.

Could have been better
Revisado: 05-15-20
I enjoyed hearing about Vivian's life, but I just wanted to fast forward whenever Molly came into the story. Her narration (Molly's) was like nails on a chalkboard and her part of the book was just boring and not a necessary part of telling Vivian's story. Basically, it was just filler which is a shame because Vivian's story is interesting enough to stand on its own.
