if you liked Twilight but are embarrassed you liked Twilight, this is your book. The romance stuff gets pretty over the top in the middle, to the point of being weird and annoying, but its definitely worth hanging in there!

How do you even begin to rate a book like this? The relationship between Wavy and Junior starts out sweet and then twists into something else completely. It also does so so slowly that the reader barely realizes how wrong it is until its too late to untangle themselves emotionally. That being said, this is a compelling and challenging story that moves quickly and pulls on your heart.

My expectations were high because of how much I love Fantasticland. This isn't that. it's decent. fast-paced, bloody and fun, but it lacks a strong message.

I'd group it with novels like Horrorstor and the Troop. it's a bit pulpy but fans of those novels will enjoy it.

Oof. This is probably the most challenging book I've ever read. the prose is moving and well written, but the subject matter is abhorrent. I worry for anyone that enjoys the experience of reading it, and no other horror book I've read has affected me so deeply. The most horrifying part? The abuse described happens to children all over the world every day, and just like in real life, the violence that happens to Meg and Susan is completely senseless. And I get the feeling that that is the point.

Maybe I'm a prude, but I don't think that a horror novel (or any novel that isn't a sleazy romance novel really) should have one character say to another "'Eat my a**.'" Kinda takes you out of the story. Other than those weird moments, it was a pretty entertaining story!

Despite its stupid title and silly premise, the Perfect Mother ended up being much more enjoyable than I expected. It even had some twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

The Auctioneer starts as a demented Music Man and quickly turns into a parable about the evils of gentrification and the commodification of the lower class.

it takes a few chapters to become invested, but once the plot picks up it's a real pageturner

So...Why didn't I like this book? Heavy-handed religious metaphors that fail to make a point (this is coming from me, a devout Christian btw). so many characters that it's hard to form an emotional connection with any of them, eye-roll-inducing attempts at diversity and inclusion (hint: being non-binary is not a personality), and a story that goes on and on and on.

Read the first two books. Skip this one.
