Let her speak!
Revisado: 10-07-21
This book should be mandatory reading for all voters regardless of party affiliation or sympathies. The specific scandals had been revealed before or at least to the extent allowed by the government. The real story and scandal is how a principled and ethical person is ground up and spit out by Ottawa. The recount is highly authentic as read by the author. It took me a while to get used to her reading style, I think it would have been enough if she only read the forward and author's notes.

Meaningful and understandable philosophy
Revisado: 11-21-19
Truly engaging and interesting. Discusses a large number of thinkers, not just philosophers, spanning thousands of years. Makes the subject very approachable and applicable to everyday life. This lecture also doubles as a short history of philosophy.

Historia
Peter Guillam, staunch colleague and disciple of George Smiley of the British Secret Service, otherwise known as the Circus, is living out his old age on the family farmstead on the south coast of Brittany when a letter from his old service summons him to London. The reason? His Cold War past has come back to claim him. Intelligence operations that were once the toast of secret London, and involved such characters as Alec Leamas, Jim Prideaux, George Smiley, and Peter Guillam himself, are to be scrutinized by a generation with no memory of the Cold War.

Exceptional narrator
Revisado: 06-05-18
I am fairly new to le Carré and got totally immersed in the story. The experience was greatly enhanced by the exceptional narrator who could clearly articulate the difference between the characters' thoughts and spoken words in a conversation.

Too many technical glitches
Revisado: 10-03-17
Unfortunately this book was copied from a bad CD with many tracks skipping. The story was good with a little too much emphasis on the writer, but with lots of interesting details. The narrator was excellent.

Excellent narrator!
Revisado: 09-12-17
It can be very distracting when a narrator is taking on different voices and accents, but Kate Reading's effortless performance and pacing added to the overall experience.
