I thought this was a straight up thriller. instead there was some supernatural ghost element that made it unbelievable. therefore this book wasn't my cup of tea . if I knew that would be the case, I wouldn't have listened. the book should have been listed in fantasy or horror bc of the supernatural elements.

You can tell a man wrote this because when he describes a female character he always mentions the size of her breasts. Gross. And every woman that the main character encounters he tries to sleep with. If you can get passed the misogyny, it's a fun book.

Animal abuse warning!!

This book should come with an animal abuse warning. I refuse to give my money to an animal abuser and will be returning this book. I don't care how young she was, abusing animals is NOT OKAY. And then to center herself in the narrative of the abused animal like the puppy didn't have any feelings or suffer any repercussions... yuck!

I was really enjoying this book until it got to the animal abuse... Then it lost me. Gross. I don't want my money going to an animal abuser and am going to seek a refund.

Slow and predictable

The story moves at a snail's pace with a lot of superfluous information that could have been edited out. It wasn't exactly the mystery I was seeking because it was extremely predictable and the secret not so salacious. The writing was good, but not the story.

I normally like this author's writing but this story was extremely predictable, so I was disappointed. The book should also start off with some sort of warning because there is A LOT of animal abuse in this book. Like... a lot!

Full of animal abuse

I bought this book hoping for stories about helping ailing animals. Instead, the book was full of examples of how humans abuse and subjegate animals. One of the first stories in the book is about how the author castrated a young steer without any anesthesia or pain meds, and yet she laughs about the experience. She also openly admits to raping cows by forcefully inseminating them - a sick practice used by humans so that cows will continuously produce milk. Truly awful book if you're an animal lover like myself. I wish I could return it and get my money back but Audible's new policy won't let me.

This is not one of Christie's better works. It is not a mystery but rather historical wartime fiction. And nearing the end of the book it becomes clear how nonsensical the plot is. It's also super terrible towards Arabs, Berbers, and Black people. This book is so lackluster, but so very racist.

This is - hands down - one of Agatha Christie's most racist books. Arabs, be prepared to get pissed off. Or better yet, avoid this one altogether.

the character Chase is the most annoying character I've ever encountered in a book. terrible shallow person whois obsessed w being famous on social media.
