The relationships feel real.
Revisado: 04-03-24
The characters feel real like Amy Jo Whitenhour’s relationship with her grandfather in contrast with Billy Jay Cader. Some real dysfunction going on in this twisted thriller

Could not disagree more with Catherine

I thought the narrator did a fantastic job. I connected immediately and the story was wonderful Eleuthera a pace that kept me enthralled. Some great twists to keep me hanging in. Loved it. Vic was such a complex character. Warm but gritty yet with a vulnerable softness.

Historia
Everyone gets their heart broken at least once. Whether you're a mercenary in 17th-century Hungary or a transplant to Missouri in 2019, we've all been there. But in some universes, love's aftermath is a tad more gruesome. From crunching bones on midnight asphalt to burning flesh in an ashen snowfall, everyone has to learn some way. There are horrors worse than a broken heart...right?

Love the depth of this author's writing.
Revisado: 08-12-23
This was quite an eclectic collection of short stories! From a feeling of old world or modern day, each story grabbed my attention and drew me in. This author's imagination is colorful, and if painted in gruesome imagery or more mental titillation, it's delivered in a way that pulls the listener's appetite hungering for more.
The Werewolf Truce and An Angry God were probably my favorites, even though they were written wonderfully differently. The Werewolf Truce felt historical and yet doused in horror, making a very cool story. An Angry God has a wonderful twist that I loved.
I expect to see more from this talent who owns his own voice that I haven't experienced much before.
Rock on, Xavier and feed us more!

Historia
Joe Talbert, Jr. has never once met his namesake. Now out of college, a cub reporter for the Associated Press in Minneapolis, he stumbles across a story describing the murder of a man named Joseph Talbert in a small town in southern Minnesota. Full of curiosity about whether this man might be his father, Joe is shocked to find that none of the town's residents have much to say about the dead man - other than that his death was long overdue....

Washington Post metro reporter Geoffrey Wines becomes suspicious when the presidential election cycle begins and two of his “metro-beat” contacts ask him about strange events: A pizza parlor owner can’t understand why groups of armed men are showing up at his restaurant demanding to know why he is keeping kidnapped children captive in his downstairs game room; an inner-city Baptist minister can’t figure out why his congregants are so concerned about Facebook stories they are reading.
