Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

No Idea Why People Like This
Revisado: 02-20-20
I could only listen to one hour before giving it up. Why do people think this is intelligent? The author is just drawing his own conclusions about humanity based on quite general scientific data. I recommend writing your own book rather than blindly absorbing these opinions.

Historia
Working women today are better educated and more well-qualified than ever before. Yet men still predominate in the corporate world. In The Confidence Code, Claire Shipman and Katty Kay argue that the key reason is confidence.
Combining cutting-edge research in genetics, gender, behavior, and cognition - with examples from their own lives and those of other successful women in politics, media, and business - Kay and Shipman go beyond admonishing women to "lean in".

Seeking Confidence from High Achievers
Revisado: 11-08-19
There was some interesting research, and I did enjoy parts of the book. However, now that I am almost finished, I feel quite frustrated. The authors went from one super high-achiever to another, looking for each woman's secret. Why not have a more diverse field of women to find confidence from? I believe it's unintentional, but that there is a subliminal message in this book that equates confidence strongly with salary and position. They did start with the question of why more women are not "at the top." Unfortunately, that remained the heart of the book, and it did not evolve into a true exploration of how all women, with varying degrees of social ambition, can be more confident. A few quick references to the PTA didn't balance it out for me.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-03-18
For someone who has never tried meditation or any self-analysis, perhaps this book is a beginning. For me, it was incredibly simplistic, and for the first two hours, the examples of problems were related to boyfriend/girlfriend issues. Since that is only one kind of problem and is significantly different from deeper-level issues, such as serious illness, it seems like there is not much being offered here. In addition, the reader's voice was ironic which doesn't seem appropriate for this topic unless the author's main point was to tell us all how ridiculous we are. Perhaps it was.

Great Short Stories could be Greater
Revisado: 11-26-11
These stories are interesting, but it is hard to believe that stories with more interest could not have been found. The readers are also rather dull--mostly flat voices. I like having multiple readers, but in this case, it was deceptive. The readers are different, but their nondramatic method is basically the same.
