Historia
Zombies, aliens, a little skin, lots of gore - and even more laughs - the cinematic universe of Charles Band is legendary. From the toilet-invading creatures of Ghoulies to the time-travelling bounty hunter in Trancers to the pandemic-crashed Corona Zombies, Band has spent four decades giving B-movie lovers exactly what they love. In Confessions of a Puppetmaster, this congenial master of Grindhouse cinema tells his own story, uncut.

I grew up on Charles Band movies so this memoir was very enjoyable. And the narration is fantastic.

It is a time of darkness, dread, and ultimate testing for the realm of Osten Ard, for the wild magic and terrifying minions of the undead Sithi ruler, Ineluki the Storm King, are spreading their seemingly undefeatable evil across the kingdom. With the very land blighted by the power of Ineluki's wrath, the tattered remnants of a once-proud human army flee in search of a last sanctuary and rallying point—the Stone of Farewell, a place shrouded in mystery and ancient sorrow.

Nothing happens!
Revisado: 05-12-23
What a long book considering nothing happens. The characters are so boring and passive! Bad story, decent narration but the accents got on my nerves after a while.

Great book
Revisado: 03-06-23
Geena Davis is hilarious and comes across as very grateful for her career. She goes into surprising amount of detail about her earlier movies, which was a lot of fun to hear. I really enjoyed this book.

My god the mouth sounds!
Revisado: 03-09-21
I enjoyed the book overall, but the narrator’s constant mouth sounds (sucking teeth, smacking lips, swallowing while talking) hurt the experience quite a bit. I don’t blame him for all of it, as an editor should have cut out most of the sounds, but swallowing while talking and occasionally turning away from the microphone—at least, that’s what it sounded like he did—are his fault. He has a pleasant-enough voice and I like that he attempted to mimic the voices of the people he quoted.
The book itself is a delight, however. I loved hearing all the details that went into making the movies.

Great narration, boring story
Revisado: 04-10-19
The book’s plot is almost non-existent, and the characters are very boring. Especially Jacob. He had no personality. And there are way too many characters. I hate when authors introduce new characters all the way up to the end.

Decent book, terrible sound quality
Revisado: 03-28-19
This is more of a review of the audiobook production. The sound is so muffled that when the narrator talks quietly, I can’t understand what he’s saying. Eventually I switched back to the paperback to finish the story.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Not a fan of the narration
Revisado: 01-09-19
I read the book before the show premiered and was looking to read it again, so I bought the audiobook despite the many negative reviews about the narration. Mr. Dotrice sounds exhausted throughout the book, and he constantly mispronounces names (Theo instead of Theon, Anya instead of Arya, Jeffrey instead of Joffrey). He’s also constantly licking his lips, which got on my nerves. Most of these things could’ve and should’ve been edited out, so I don’t blame him so much for that. Just a badly produced audiobook all around. It wore me down after a while, so much so that I switched back to my paperback.
