Historia
A monster is holding me prisoner in the land of Faerie. They call him the lord of the water Fae. I call him a viper. The tales say Elixir is venomous—and as beautiful as he is brutal. They say he's a cursed soul who wields dark, sinful magic. As punishment for stumbling into his dangerous world, the ruler of the river has confined me to an underground realm of serpentine creatures and secret canals.

Sorry, Um Snakes...Nope!
Revisado: 04-12-25
I tried really hard to get past the fact that this book is full of snakes. Nope, couldn't do it! I liked Books 1 & 2 in this series. They weren't wow but solid. I got to Book 3 and nothing about it appealed to me. The FMC character is super annoying. The voice the narrator used in this book is whiny and also super annoying (which is crazy because I liked her in the first 2 books). The MMC is Fae snake. Literally. Not figuratively. Peace out. Bye, Felicia.

Historia
Surviving the Neverseen King's lethal bridal competition earned me the title of wife and queen. After the darkest, bloodiest night of my life, I am to don a wedding gown and marry the deadly fae king who lives in shadows. When sabotage and murder are discovered in the palace after the wedding, my new husband and I have no choice but to find out who is trying to usurp his throne. Yet the question that plagues me most isn't about power, magic, or the fate of the worlds.

Should NOT Be a Neverseen Book!
Revisado: 04-12-25
The Assassin Bride, Book 1 is a bit slow but solid so keep going. Book 2, The Neverseen King is wowza- rips your heart out, stomps on it, and leaves you breathless! Exceptional dual narration! For once, I liked both narrators equally. Unique and beautiful world building. Great action scenes. Badass only slightly annoying FMC. Mysterious MMC. No spice yet, but very romantic. Incredible message. Highly recommend! Can't wait for Book 3!

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

New Achievement: this book lives up to all the hype, and the hype is as big as the dungeon itself! This is a 5-star listen for me, and I hardly ever give out 5 stars. It is so unique, entertaining, and memorable that I must give it the highest possible rating. The narrator is so talented that it leaves you wanting more and wondering, how does he do that with his voice? Sometimes, with very theatrical productions, I get overwhelmed, and it distracts me from the sorry. That is not the case here. I am starting Book 2 immediately! Now, where did I leave my reward box?

First, the narration is fantastic! It's so easy and entertaining to listen to. Second, the story, setting, and characters are unique and compelling. The story is action packed with plenty of romantic moments. The MMC is swoon-worthy, and the FMC is strong, bold, and not annoying. I'm in for the next installment. I need to know the rest of the story…

Revisado: 03-21-25
And that's the sound of my heart melting… I rarely give out 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, and the Plated Prisoner series is one of my few five-star series. The series takes you on an epic journey. The world-building is incredible. The concept is unique and thoroughly entertaining. Lilly Drake and Anthony Palmini are phenomenal narrators. I can't imagine any other voices for Auren and the MMC. My only critique is that you could tell they did not record at the same time in the same place, so their conversations back and forth didn't sound actually conversational. The spice in this book is smoking hot. Lots of romance, slow burn, forced proximity, and enemies to lovers tropes. The series has excellent plot twists and reveals. The final book is hugely satisfying. Be warned, the series, particularly in Books 2 and 3, have difficult scenes of abuse. They are gutwrenching to listen to and leave a lasting impression. I enjoyed the themes in this book, particularly the examination of materialism. The series attempts to answer the question of how much gold is enough. I highly recommend the series and will miss listening to Auren’s adventures.

I Wanted to LOVE It, but…
Revisado: 03-21-25
Let's start with the good…I love Lilly Drake as the FMC narrator. I'm a massive fan of hers from listening to the Plated Prisoner series. She is a fantastic narrator who brings the story to life.
The spice is as robust 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ as in Book 1, there is a lot of it (sadly, not as much plot or character development).
I gave the book 3 stars 🌟🌟🌟, which for me means a “solid” rating … Meaning I enjoyed it and finished it, but I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. The plot of this book is convoluted and a bit disappointing. It does not go where I hoped for Book 2; instead, it takes some odd detours and has an even stranger ending. I don't mind a cliffhanger ending, but it needs to feel purposeful and make sense for it to work for me.
The male narrator’s version of Adrian did not work for me. 👎🏻 I found it lacking and unbelievable; he does not sound like a macho, immortal, sex-crazed vampire 🧛 would sound. I barely got through his chapters, which is a huge shame. 🥲
Book 2 is good enough for me to listen to Book 3 when it comes out. I would love to see them change the male narrator, but I doubt that's in the cards🃏. I want to know how this story unfolds and hope for a happy ending for Isolde X Adrian. ❤️

This book needs to be talked about more!
Enemies to Lovers ✔️
Forced Proximity ✔️
Lots of Spice ✔️
Hot Vampires ✔️
Court politics ✔️
The narrator of this book is terrific. I am a massive fan of Lilly Drake!!! I will listen to anything she reads. The bonus chapter at the end with the male narrator's voice is cringe. I do not enjoy his voice.
While, there are familiar romantic fantasy elements in this book, it kept my attention and I was thoroughly entertained. I liked that the FMC is a person of color. Refreshing!
This is a 4 Star 🌟🌟🌟🌟 listen for me. Will definitely continue on with Books 2 & 3.

I adored this book!
Revisado: 03-07-25
I found this book as a suggestion based on my other listens. What a terrific discovery- I loved it! The FMC is not annoying. She's brave and kind. The morally gray MMC is grumpy, sexy, and mysterious... the perfect combo! Their flirting and banter is perfection. Excellent spice level. I loved the royal court intrigue and overall plot held my attention. The narrator is terrific, all of her voices are easy to listen to and very believable. The main mystery is resolved but a new one kicks off and leaves you wanting more!!! Diving straight into the next book. Highly recommend.

I listened to the majority of this book and finally gave up because the main characters can't get it going! The story is taking way too long for what it is. I liked book 1 in this series very much and I liked book 2 okay.../book 3 not so much. Hoping to like book 4 better.

Definitely a Middle Series Book
Revisado: 02-03-25
I've read enough multi-book series to understand that in some books within series, a lot happens, and other books are about setting up the next book (where a lot happens).
Onyx Storm is largely a “set-up” book for the next 2 in the series. At least, I hope so - otherwise, the first 70% of the book, which felt like it wandered (quite literally) all over the place, with lots of new places and people, will feel like a waste. For now, I'm choosing to believe that it will all come together. I would give the first 70% of this book 3 stars.
The last 30% of the book is ❗wow❗and what we've come to expect from this series. This part is 5 stars! Overall, I will settle on 4 stars for OS but the series in total is a definite 5 stars for me.
I'm in for the long haul and can't wait to read the next book!
