Historia
Jamie Winship spent nearly thirty years living and working in conflict zones, and during that time he has learned an important truth: all human conflict originates from fear, and fear originates from a false view of God, ourselves, and others. Until we exchange what's false for what's real, we will never experience being fully alive, fully human, and fully free. Living Fearless is your invitation to listen closely to what God is trying to say to you about himself, about the person he created you to be—and also about all those other people he created and loves.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I came across this author watching his interview on the Deep End podcast with Taylor Welch. I followed the author’s suggestion and completed it in one sitting. God truly spoke to me during reading this book. The revelation I received, I believe is life changing. Thank you for sharing this story.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

I haven't enjoyed an autobiography like this in such a long time. The narration, the humor, the life lessons and hard truths, the order of recollection.... all masterfully done. I highly highly recommend.

Historia
Living as a Black woman in America, Lisa Victoria Fields understands the tension of relying on God in a broken world. While pursuing her calling in full-time Christian ministry—an often white, male-dominated vocation—she saw the contentions many people have with Christianity. She heard the theological questions, but instead of arguing for her faith, she listened to the barriers and heard the pain in their hearts: I’m not welcomed or wanted. There is no justice in this world. God didn't intervene and protect me. Doesn’t God want me to be happy?

This was a great book. Packed with so much truth and practical application. It's a book I forsee reading in multiple seasons of my life. It's not a book you read once and forget it. It's definitely a boom that should be read frequently as a reminder of just how good God is and why we wrestle with our faith and continue to choose God in the end. Highly recommend.

eye opening
Revisado: 02-08-24
I remember a pastor once preached, the Bible can not mean what it never meant. Meaning while you can always get fresh revelation, it is our responsibility to understand the context in which scripture was written to test that revelation. This book, is easy to follow. I love how it puts the new testament in context. I can actually visualize the early church. His account shows us how what we're dealing with in today's church is nothing new. Therefore, if we apply the solutions that scripture already laid out for us, I think the modern church would fair better. Knowing the historical context in which Paul writes also dispells any argument in my mind of contradiction. Each letter was written to a specific culture with specific concerns that he was addressing. Definitely a great tool to read in addition to the Bible itself. Highly recommend for anyone desiring greater knowledge, understanding, and faith.

Historia
Chronic disease is shortening our lifespan, destroying our quality of life, bankrupting governments, and threatening the health of future generations. Sadly, conventional medicine, with its focus on managing symptoms, has failed to address this challenge. The result is burned-out physicians, a sicker population, and a broken healthcare system. In Unconventional Medicine, Chris Kresser presents a plan to reverse this dangerous trend.

Loved it.
Revisado: 07-19-18
While it took some adjustment to get used to Chris narration tone, the content of the book was so rich and informative that you quickly forget about it. Chris offers great insight and truly breaks down the differences between functional medicine, integrative medicine, and functional medicine. I recommend this book to any healthcare provider/worker/patient. We have to be aware that there are more options to how we approach healthcare, with functional medicine being a valid scientific and more effective approach for chronic conditions compared to the current conventional medicine. At the very least, this book should have you take an honest audit on your own approach to healthcare and ignite or fuel your desire for something greater.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

I enjoyed hearing about Tiffany's life. It's a great come up story. we all have them in our own way, but when others are transparent about theirs it can make you feel connected. I am glad it was self narrated. Can't Imagine anyone else telling it. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend this.

Better than I expected
Revisado: 01-31-18
I really expected this to be a dry book. It's recommended reading for my organization and I got the audible version because the physical book wouldn't arrive in time. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The narrator and the content kept me engaged the whole time. I truly learned a lot from this book and I can't wait to discuss it further with my organization.
