Acerca de esta escucha

Time traveling from the Orwellian world of 2032 is forbidden. But this doesn’t stop Emma, twin brother Ethan, and their special friend Zak from hijacking a time machine — destination 1932. Four years earlier, at the age of seventeen, they embarked on a failed mission to save the life of Jack Kennedy. Now they are attempting to exhume Franklin D. Roosevelt. His political life and the future of American democracy drowned in the swamp lands of Washington D.C. that steamy, violent night of the Bonus March Massacre. The squatter camp is a “Hooverville”— a chaotic quilt of canvas, cardboard, and straw that barely shelters 20,000 World War I unemployed veterans. Emma, Ethan and Zak share a Great Depression night with Sweeny family. Their hovel floats on the muddy, sweltering “flats” located a few blocks from the nation’s capital. The veterans demand release of bonus money promised by Congress. Sadly, Emma knows their plea will be rejected. Next morning, the travelers hear General Smedley Butler deliver a rousing speech. Jack Travers, a suave, handsome, smooth-talking advance man for FDR is also taking notes. Pretty and innocent, Emma gets his attention. Soon, she opens the door, and he eagerly slides into her world. She demands his help. He secures a meeting with Mrs. Roosevelt. Can she have FDR intervene? Emma makes her pitch. Eleanor Roosevelt is impressed. Jack makes his move. Emma and Jack fall in love. For the moment, Emma’s plan is working. But soon Emma is weakened by a deadly 1932 disease, and FDR offers no help, and MacArthur’s army launches a surprise night attack. The camp erupts into panic and flames. This night, July 28, 1932, the time travelers must stop the massacre, the martial law, and the abandonment of American democracy, to save FDR’s presidency. Note: The Time Travel Twins series is intended for adults and young adults, but not for children.
