What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.

I haved loved all of AH'S novels and was excited to see she had a new one coming out so soon after Deep End. I didn't know the premise of this story until I started listening to it. Right off the bat, I noticed the female reader was not the same one who usually reads her novels and that every line she read was read snarkily, even if it wasn't a snarky line. Ok, I could get over that. But the first time the male reader read, it was out of place. Too growly and intense. With her young, immature, snarky voice and his gruff, almost predatory voice, it made the age and maturity difference between the two main characters a bit cringy.
I KNOW that AH's characters have more depth than was being "portrayed" by these two readers. So, I had to stop listening and went and bought the book at Costco and read it myself instead. That changed the feel of this story immensely.
PLEASE don't use these readers again for her novels.

Not my favorite AH novel

The performance took this book from 4.5 to 5 stars for me. Eric Nolan is THE BEST

The female MC was the most relatable to me of all the Ali Hazelwood characters so far. The coping with humor to the MAX is something I honestly rarely see in novels portrayed this accurately. They are really messy characters, and that just makes it so much more investing.
The consistent readers will recognize past MCs in this book so pay attention!

I genuinely haven't felt this deeply about a book since I first read The Love Hypothesis or Love Theoretically. This finally scratched the itch again and I'm so grateful I decided to casually pick it up.

Volume levels were inconsistent in the chapters though? This was a problem in Deep End for me as well so not sure what's going on.

Made me feel like the Love Hypothesis did 😭

The people reading made this story come alive!!! Even kept my interest with the back and forth timelines in the story. Want a part two.

Best narrators ever!

Another solid pick from Ali. I enjoyed the characterization of the characters—it felt like they had strong voices and chemistry. Female narrator was solid and male narrator was good when he was playing Conor.

However, male narrator really struggled with Eli and other male characters who are not supposed to have the same accent as Conor. The voices were so similar I often got confused who was speaking, a dangerous thing with the FMC’s brother and lover sound the same!

Overall, great job and I finished it quickly.
