This book surprised me in a good way. It had good plot and the tension was great. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

This story is full of darkness but it also explores the idea that evil isn’t always as it seems. Charlotte has escaped so much and where she lands seems to be a contradiction. This story is very original and not my usual pick so I was surprised about how much I liked the story. Despite the darkness there is an unexpected light. #CMCon25

. It’s a super-hot, erotic and dark romance with a bit of BDSM thrown in. I have to say that this isn’t my normal cup of tea but I think it was a well written and imaginative story. What really made it shine for me, however, was the fact that I listened to the audiobook; the wonderful performances by the two talented voice actors kept me glued to my earbuds from start to finish. As far as I know, this is the first time I’ve listened to both Isabelle Turner and Ethan Reid. Isabelle did a better job with male voices than Ethan did with female ones but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.

This is book one of a series and while things seem pretty settled, romance wise, for Lucifer and Charlotte, it does end on a cliffhanger. It will be interesting to see where the next book takes the story.

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.
I also listened to it again via Audible Plus.

At first I couldn’t stand Lucifer. And it took a while for him to grow on me. But of course eventually his bad self won me over. The book was good but I definitely guessed a lot of the plot twists! A little predictable.

The story, characters, and the main characters were fantastic. My only complaint is how some of the siblings' sounded. I don't know if the terrible NY accents were the author's, producers', or narrator's idea, but they were awful.
Regardless, I'm eagerly awaiting the next book!

Dark romantasy. Present tense, alternating POV. Erotica elements including BDSM.
New York City is run by Lucifer and the seven deadly sins. Brothels, elite bars where sex and temptation are the only part of the menu, and sin is the name of the game. The media and paparazzi follow the power players for the salacious news stories. It is not a playground for the innocent.
Yet, NY is exactly where Charlotte goes to escape her religious and restrictive past. She gets an assistant PR job where she ends up working directly for Lucifer, who cannot resist her. He can’t see her sins and it’s driving him mad. If he can’t see any of her sins, he’s going to make sure he gives her a few she will never forget. The PR job turned fake relationship turned play room kink drives both Charlotte and Lucifer to the unknown.

2nd read
🎧 Narrators Isabelle Turner and Ethan Reid will keep you captive and captivated throughout the story.
It’s unforgettable.

Loved the story line. Very entertaining and attention catching. Author caught my attention and didn’t let it go till the last page and now I can’t wait to see if there’s a part 2.

When you are raised and abused by an Evangelist who only cares about turning his daughter into a submissive broodmare and turns you over to someone more cruel than himself, what do you do? Run away to the one place they will never look. Hell’s Kitchen NYC straight into the arms of the devil himself. Lucifer

He owns a the city and if you cross him, they will regret it. Lucifer should scare Charlotte, and he does, yet she cannot help her pull to him and his interest in her for being so bold and fearless. They fall into a relationship of convenience to better his image for his company which of course is complicated. A wicked whirlwind of heat and desire complicates this fake relationship and the devil isn’t the only evil player in this game.

An entertaining spicy story that had me completely consumed. If anyone has triggers regarding abuse, eware as this book has some among other things that some might not care for. I however have little trigger issues so… I danced with the devil and had a good time.

This was the first Kait Ballenger book that I’ve read/ listened to. I have to say… I am officially a Kait B fan!!!! Loved her writing style and the way she brought the characters and their journey to life. It’s a spicy read with dark elements. Definitely need to pay attention to the trigger warnings. She’s very upfront on those. Over all loved the story, loved the characters, and loved the relationship build. Great book for dark romance and spicy readers. Can’t wait for the next one!!
