When Mistress Jasmine is killed in a automobile accident, Eli is devastated. Officially, Eli now belongs to The Coterie. He is property. He is told that he is to be sold to another Mistress. Eli, however, has other ideas. This story explores a much under discussed orientation; that of the male submissive. Relinquishing control is not regarded as a masculine way to go about things. But in relinquishing control, Eli's life is fulfilled.

This was different from what I usually read and not really my cup of tea. However, I'm not one to DNF unless I simply can't get into the story. Not the case with this book. I was immediately drawn in right from the start. The feels at the beginning did me in. I just had to know Eli's story.
What really surprised me was the emotional tone of the story. I loved the drama of it.
The narration was good. Rose Lachland's voice was soothing and kept me listening. However, she pretty much kept the same tone for all characters.
For not being a troupe in my wheelhouse, so to speak, this was an entertaining listen. I really did enjoy it overall.

One of the final scenes where Jasmine allows Eli to make passionate love to her. The author hinted earlier that some dommes marry their subs and I was lead to believe of the possibility. The branding ritual seemed to have sealed the deal. Readers will be surprised by both the subsequent tragedy and the epilogue.Have you listened to any of Rose Lachlan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Lachlan narrates the story from the 3rd. person POV fairly evenly. Her performance was neutral to the characters. She made the tale interesting enough to hear in one sitting.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I almost cried at the tragedy in the end but since it was foretold in the first chapter I was not surprised. I began to feel empathy for Jasmine as her character developed. It was sad to see how it ended. The story continued to maintain the central theme of the Coterie with a recovery for Eli.Any additional comments?
Although short on dialogue and specific action, the story provides an amazing depth of plot and revelation of the characters motivations. Readers of this story will be treated to a remarkable tale about a little-known society.He finds his true love
