Anthony Roydon is a pacifist who lives his life under the rule of the werewolves with his head down. When he's kidnapped by patrol officers who want to use him against Anthony's crazed father, the leader of the rebellion, everything changes.

That, and King Wolfgang Amadus happens to be the most gorgeous man Anthony's ever seen. Werewolves have hurt Anthony before. They killed his mother and violated him. He doesn't trust them, but Amadus's touch makes everything feel better than all right, and Anthony can't contain his lust for the man, who claims Anthony's in heat and that they are mates. Anthony will be the king's lover, but only so he can convince the man that things need to change. Anthony's shocked when Amadus donates food to local shelters, but as he comes to realize that there's more to the king than he thought, that he might even love the man, other wolves who disagree with Anthony's presence plot against them.

When Anthony is captured and brought to the werewolf king his life will never be the same again. He must decide on how to survive and what he will do.
The author has created an interesting world with strong characters in this book. It moves at a good pace and pulled me in right from the start. I enjoyed being along for the journey as Anthony and Amadus find their way. Their story is a nice mix of emotions and action. Narrator Darcy Stark dos a nice job of bringing this world to life.

Very enjoyable shifter, fated mates story with a good combination of heat, sweetness, action and angst. I always enjoy this narrator, his voice and acting are nice to listen to. I also found the plot to be pretty interesting (son of the king's enemy is his fated mate) and am looking forward to the next book.

Well... maybe not cute.. but seriously good... I really enjoyed this... I hope book 2 is put on Audible soon...

I like this series a bit better than the Dewitt's Pack series by the same author. The Alpha Kings are so much better... plus they are alphas and kings!

Love the m/m romance thrown in... it actually makes the story more enjoyable.

This book is a great beginning to this series. I really enjoyed the story. DS did a fantastic job as always bringing each character to life. The author has a strong talent in her writing and story telling. I definitely recommend this book.👍👍🙂
