About Barbara Rosenblat
Barbara Rosenblat’s voice is like a cello – it’s resonant, recognizable, and can do anything. And she truly has done a bit of everything. One of the most tenured voices in the business, Rosenblat has performed many popular kids titles (she IS Judy Moody), plenty of sci-fi, romance, fiction, and of course mysteries—particularly those of the cozy variety. While her style isn’t entirely comedic, she exudes a genuine wit, which plays especially well for arguably her most popular body of work, Elizabeth Peters's beloved Amelia Peabody series.
Barbara Rosenblat has been narrating for more than 20 years, and even had the honor of performing the first book ever recorded at Audible in 1999. Publisher Beth Anderson recalls picking Rosenblat up from her apartment on the Upper West Side and driving her out to Audible’s original home in Wayne, NJ for the gig (this was a limo service before we did limos!). Rosenblat has enjoyed an extensive and varied acting career across stage (she created the role of Mrs. Medlock in the musical The Secret Garden on Broadway), film, and TV. She also spent several years working in West End theater in the UK, a stint that undoubtedly prepared her to be one of the very best “transatlantic” voices, able to slip seamlessly between British and American accents.
Most recently she starred in Orange Is the New Black as Miss Rosa. This fan-favorite character was initially intended as a cameo role but was extended for two seasons due to that organic and undefinable presence that arises from a compelling TV character well portrayed.

Story
No one wanted another war. Thomas Theisman didn't. After risking his life and a fresh round of civil war to overthrow the Committee of Public Safety's reign of terror and restore the Republic of Haven's ancient Constitution, an interstellar war was the last thing he wanted. Baron High Ridge didn't. The Prime Minister of Manticore was perfectly happy with the war he had. No one was shooting anyone else at the moment, and as long as he could spin out negotiations on the formal treaty of peace, his government could continue to milk all those "hostilities only" tax measures for their own partisan projects.
