Imiss (Imisserela) Hunter: Biography Imiss Hunter, the pen name for Richard M. Kottke, is a captivating storyteller whose writing draws on his childhood experiences and love for science fiction and fantasy. Born and raised in Northern Illinois, Richard spent his formative years in an idyllic setting along the Chain of Lakes. Surrounded by nature’s beauty, he enjoyed a childhood filled with adventure—boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and snowmobiling were daily pastimes. These experiences, immersed in the wonders of the outdoors, shaped a deep sense of freedom and imagination that would go on to influence his creative works. Writing as Imiss, the love for reading and storytelling began early in life, inspired by the popular science fiction and fantasy authors of the time. These writers took Imiss on journeys to exotic worlds and introduced magnificent creatures, fueling his imagination and love for otherworldly tales. This passion for exploration and the unknown carried through to adult years and is reflected in the novels and stories Imiss now writes. In addition to writing, Imiss remains an avid reader and enjoys immersion into the world of video games, finding joy in immersive universes and narratives. A beloved member of the family is Imiss' dog, Quela, whose adventures and heartwarming presence have inspired the "Quella goes" children's books. Through these stories, Imiss shares the magic of companionship and the joy of imagination, creating a world where children and adults alike can escape into enchanting tales.
