Brooklyn born CAROL SCHLANGER, with her mix of wit and pathos, is a quintessential writer/actress. Before going back-to-the-land in the 1970s, she attended YALE DRAMA and then joined legendary story theater guru Paul Sills in developing his Ovid’s Metamorphosis for Broadway. She received an OBIE nomination for her own AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE in The American Pig review at Joseph Papp's NEW YORK PUBLIC THEATRE Returning from the Oregon wilderness to professional life in Los Angeles, she was part of KCET’s, EMMY nominated Airwoman, won character roles in major motion pictures (The China Syndrome, The Frisco Kid, and Ed and his Dead Mother) and on network television-{ recently Aunt Helen on Brooklyn 99} While raising a family, she became a comedy writer for Imagine Entertainment and wrote Back To The Garden and Hello Pilgram--for CBS. Her one-woman play, Mouth to Mouth, won L.A. Dramalogue awards for performance and writing. Fearless and funny, she has been described as a BABY BOOMER'S answer to Lena Dunham. Her plays: Baba Yaga, Will You Still Feed Me, and Last Dance have been produced both in N.Y. and L.A. In both cities, she is an in-demand spoken-word artist. Recently Aunt Helen on BROOKLYN 99, a Grandma of three and a lifetime organic farmer, she and her husband raise Big Boy tomatoes in Oregon. Hippie Woman Wild marks her debut as an AUTHOR at 73.
