Angela Billings, U.S. Air Force veteran, strategic communicator, entrepreneur, speaker, and author has performed in many high-profile positions while serving in the Air Force, including communicating internationally in Germany, Korea, and Afghanistan, and as the senior Air Force representative in New York City. As an entrepreneur, strategist, and business leader, Angela is a master communicator who has coached military officers and executives and was an Air Force spokesperson for over twenty years. She has prepared clients for media interviews and congressional testimony in the United States, Germany, Korea, and Afghanistan. Her approach is to engage early and often in public spaces. In her view, it is better to manage the narrative than have someone else tell your story for you. This active yet measured approach has helped Angela weather the toughest of public relations storms: the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the Pentagon, airplane crashes, base closures, force reshaping, unit deployments, troops in contact, and downed helicopters in combat against the Taliban. When she returned from combat, Angela managed the public elements in the aftermath of Kaiserslautern Military Community Center crisis first exposed on the CBS News show 60 Minutes. She is currently the director of communication for the Kentucky Senate Majority and was recently named as one of The Kentucky Gazette’s 2023 Most Notable Women In Kentucky Politics and Government. Angela started her business, The Virago Circle, in October 2020, and speaks to leaders about effective crisis management. Angela lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband, Greg, daughters Annaliese and Isabel, and cat, Loki.
