About this listen

An alliance forged through marriage.

The cost?

One Man’s dream.

Tristan dreams of the day he’ll succeed his father as the next Warlord of Markaytia.

Elves—creatures famous for their darker passions and tantalizing culture—approach the Markaytian king with an offer he can’t refuse: an alliance with the Elves for the one Tristan Kanes. Tristan is forced to give up his dream. He’s not thrilled, but Tristan is a man of duty above all else.

What choice does he have?

He cannot refuse the king or Markaytia. He begrudgingly comes to terms with the arranged marriage. Is he a tad sour about it? Yes, but he’ll get over it.

Probably.

Maybe it won’t be so bad.

Elves have cool weapons, maybe he’ll get one? Corrik bans him from cool weapons.

Corrik’s seen Tristan’s gruesome death on the point of a sword in a prophetic vision.

He bans Tristan from picking up a sword ever again.

Tristan wants to accept the marriage with grace to make his people proud, but he resents Corrik for his remorseless attitude over his life’s work.

Facing the Ice Prince and himself.

Tristan’s conflict follows him on the journey to the mysterious Elven land of Mortouge.

He hates Corrik for taking him from the life he loved, boy does he, but his new Elven husband is an enigma and he’s captivated.

He sets Tristan’s blood on fire and freezes it at the same time.

Corrik unravels Tristan’s true nature and despite his best efforts, Tristan falls for his ice prince. But Corrik won’t bend.

Corrik wants to be obeyed.

He’s demanding and possessive.

He’s overbearingly protective. Can these two find a suitable compromise?

Or will Tristan’s resentment and Corrik’s arrogance ruin forever their chance at love?

Tristan by Mock (S. Legend) is a gay romance fantasy featuring enemies-to-lovers vibes, an age gap, arranged marriage, first times, and a happy ending (um, eventually). This is the first action-adventure romance in the Tristan trilogy.

Good story

I found the world building very interesting. Though the BDSM relationship at times had some problems. Corrick is a bit of a bully as a Dom and Tristan has no idea what’s going on most of the time. And their relationship was interesting to see develop. I enjoyed the magic of the world and had fun seeing how things went. Over all it was a rather interesting story that kept me entertained. The narrator did a very good job with the emotions and separating the different characters.

Good story!

Tristan is the next in line to be the warlord of Markaytia, until he was told that he is going to marry an elf prince, Corrick. Poor Tristan he won’t be able to be a warlord and he is also stripped of his sword, he can fight again. He is now just a concubine. His life is completely turned and he doesn’t like it at all.

He is trying to be strong and accept his fate but he also like a little drama, any chance he gets he would annoyed Corrick, there is a little BDSM that is part of the story and Tristan is definitely submissive, he can’t help to gives himself to Corrick and like it. Overall this story was good, there’s so many twists and turns, Tristan and Corrick story continues and the next book! Curtis Michael did an amazing job narrating this book, I love his accent!

Interesting story!

This was an interesting story. We have Tristan, a Warlord in training, having to give up all he knows for an arranged marriage to an elven prince, (Corrick). Their relationship is more of a BDSM relationship - Corrick exerted his dominance even before they got married. The couple clash quite a bit, but Tristan loves?/hates his husband. Overall, it's a really good story, good world-building and the kidnapping events interesting enough that I want to know what Corrick is going to do to get Tristan back, (and what he'll do when/if he finds out about Tristan's captivity). I really enjoyed the enjoyed the story more via audio. The narration was really good! Curtis Michael had the characters down pat, especially when Tristan was petulant or bratty. His performance was made it all the more interesting.

Not what I was expecting

The book starts off with the Authors message that his story doesn't really follow.
Tristan has no clue about what is going on, in life or with Corrik. Corrik is not a very good Dom. he explains very little to Tristan. Corrik is a Bully. If you have a trigger over spankings, this book is not for you. I was expecting Dark and heavy BDSM. this was not it... Curtis Michael is a new voice for me. at times his voice makes you want to laugh. he definitely gives each character a voice and personality but, his voice is rather comical. I'm glad I listened to this story but in total I give it 4 stars.

Fantasy, Gay, Romance - Leave rational thoughts behind

I’ve read the series a couple times and thought I would get this first audio book. This is a fiction, fantasy, gay romance. I like the world building. This is one of the stories where I prefer to fast forward through the sex scenes to get to the story. The relationships are NOT in any way realistic or healthy. A lot of reviewers disliked it for that reason. Again, this is a fantasy romance. I do understand though that what is easily overlooked for one reader/listener can be a deal breaker for someone else. The narrator was ok. Tristan’s voice was whiny sometimes which didn’t fit with his Junior Warrior persona to me. The sample just had Tristan speaking and I almost didn’t get the title for that reason. All of the other characters sound the same to me or very similar.

SM LA LA LAND

This book could have been an entertaining story of an SM relationship, but it failed. The woman who wrote this must never have met a gay submissive or anyone in the military. We are expected to believe that a young adult, who was trained in military schooling throughout and the best swordsman in his country, would enter a treaty marriage. Then we must believe that he checked his intelligence at the door and is groomed as a sex slave.

Back in the land of plausible reality, submissive gay men are usually MASTERS at manipulating their Doms, especially when they can use their dragon powers to eliminate theIr Dom at will. This would come naturally to any man trained in military strategy and an expert swordsman. If this were a “real story” Tristan would wrap his Dom around his little finger and train him to bark on command. Also the Dom’s royal family would be quaking in their boots. What country send their best swordsman and accomplished strategist into such a silly marriage without an ulterior motive, like maybe getting him to use his dragon powers to eliminate the Dom and his family?

Glorifies sexual slavery

Glorifies sexual slavery and tries to make up for it by confusing gender roles. It’s apparent this is a woman trying to portray gay men. It fails.
