About this listen

It’s every girl’s dream, getting rescued by a handsome stranger. When I woke up and saw Kit Green standing over me, I thought he was an angel. I didn’t see the dark wings.

What is he doing out here all alone? I don’t question it at first. I’m too busy being blinded by intrigue and desire. If it weren’t for him, I’d be dead. I want to repay him with my body.

But things quickly begin to not add up. This cabin is full of secrets. It’s cold outside, but I’m starting to think he came out here to burn for his sins.

Disclaimer: The Cabin is a stand-alone dark romance. This story deals with the struggles of post-traumatic stress disorder and finding a reason to live when everything around you seems bleak. Heat Level: Smokin’ Hot.

Lovely short story

Haunted by his past Kit is ready to end it all and then meets Ivy. This is a quick love story with a sweet ending. It would be nice to know the backgrounds of both but this is a short 3 hour story so there isn't time for that. I enjoyed the story and the narration. Well done.

Charming short read

I'm a short read kind of girl and the steaminess in this one was amazing for just 3 hours. Maybe not worth a credit for the length but great characters and chemistry between the h and H.

Can Her Love Heal Him?

This story deals with some very difficult subjects, Kit's guilt over the deaths of his brother and others, his failure to save them when he was a serving medic. He was supposed to keep them alive and bring them home. Why did they die and he live?

He's tried therapy, it didn’t seem to be work, he's forgotten about all those he saved and he's only thinking about those he lost. So he decides to end his life, he tells his mother he is going to the family cabin for a while, then leaves his mother a note telling her to send the authorities to the cabin, he doesn't want her to find him. He packs a bag full of drugs and off he goes to do the deed.

Ivy is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail she's failed to stop at the last rest stop with everyone else now she's alone, injured her ankle, got herself totally lost in a snowstorm and now wolves are attacking her.

Kit is on the point of doing the deed but he hears her screams and manages to save her. He takes her to his cabin and deals with all her injuries. He feels drawn to her, he hasn’t been drawn to anyone for a long time but there's something about her that makes him feel!

He decides to patch her up and when the storm has passed take her to the hospital, then come back to the cabin and do what he set out to do. But fate has other plans. He never thought their connection could become more but could he be getting a second chance?.

Ivy is younger, she's never known loss and she's never really experienced love or sexual closeness so when she experiences these things with Kit she thinks it will last forever. When she becomes aware of what Kit's plans were will her love be enough to convince him to live?

Kit is dealing with PTSD it's something too many people have to deal with, I felt for him, but was also angry at his plans to leave his mother alone having lost both sons.

The chemistry between them is palpable and well documented, I did feel however that the sex progressed too quickly for a supposed virgin, but then maybe that's just me.

The narration of this story by Sophie James was very well done, she hit just the right note for me.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

The Cabin

Kit could not get his life back on track when he returned from his tour. His conscience would not let him sleep and PTSD kept him in the worst moments of his life. Ivy finds herself literally in the company of wolves when Kit finds her by his cabin. His tortured soul finds the soothing balm in Ivy that he needs to start his life over. But will this chance meeting be enough to build on? I love Kit. His frame of mind is so well portrayed by Sky Corgan, giving him desperation so strong that it's palpable, but the heart of a truly beautiful soul. He has deep emotions and his journey of healing is worth the trip. Ivy is a fun adventurer, and her wolf scene was reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast, my favorite fairy tale. It captured my complete attention and kept me til the end. The story is steamy, heartbreaking at times and let's us experience their love as they get to know each other.

Sophie James narrates this dark story with her wonderful voices. I love her and her ability to singly narrate with make and female voices so well it's hard to know it's only one person. She brings these two together with all the feels and makes the listen well worth it.

Lots of Coincidents But Great Message.

I take my hat off to authors who write stories with real life issues built into them. I imagine it cannot be easy to write a story that contains sensitive topics like suicide. This was a pretty well written shorter story, but there were a few scenes that were almost too coincidental. The characters are likeable and I found myself cheering for their happily ever after. This is a story of finding one's purpose in life and persevering even when you think there is no reason to keep going in life.

The narrator did a pretty good job in this performance. Her male voice was ok but could have been better, in general. Overall, she was able to express the emotions the characters were experiencing fairly well.

Well

This was a good story but was spoiled for me with all of the sex scenes. More backstory of how the past 4 years that led to the decision for suicide would have made it great. The narrator was good and moved the story along. Loved the mom and the relationship. Such a good ending. I know sex sells but too much takes away from the story. I got this via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.

Full of raw emotion

As a military veteran that deals with PTSD. This book made me rawest I have been in a long time. It’s a story of a broken combat medic that went into the woods to take his final breath. That was until he has to save a woman from a pack of wolves. She does not give up on Kit, and makes him realize that he worth living.

Believable storyline with less believable scenes

Entertaining steamy short about a disillusioned veteran suffering from PTSD who saves a lost hiker just as wolves find her. Kit was a medic in the service so he immediately sets to caring for Ivy, a tourist who’s temper lead her too deep into the woods right before a storm. Stranded, they turn up the heat 🔥and together they discover that things may not be as desolate as they’d believed.
Sky is a master of the sexy, down and dirty, turn-down-the-volume-in-your-car-and-look-around, short story! They’re always fun and make for good weekend mindless chore listens.
Sophie James has a great voice for adult female romance narratives. She acts the parts well.

Bravo! 👍🏻 With One Big Thumbs Up!
