About this listen

Lady Evie Chesterfield is a darling of the ton who refuses to become engaged. She's been desperately in love with her brother's friend, Richard Maitland, Marquess of Westfall, since forever. But the dark, dangerous marquess only sees her as a friend and refuses to marry any woman. When circumstances change and Evie has no choice but to take a husband, she decides to convince London's most notorious gentleman to marry her by seducing the scoundrel.

Richard Maitland decided long ago that he wanted nothing to do with love. So, when the gorgeous, off-limits Evie asks him for lessons in seduction, Richard knows he's playing with fire. Despite Richard's determination to protect her from his dastardly reputation, he is tested at every turn by his need for the infuriating, but enticing, Lady Evie. Before too long, he is faced with making an impossible choice....

A bit disappointed

This was supposed to be the cherry on top of this series but I was a bit different Evie was somewhat naive to poverty being in her glided castle but that plot was not truly developed it may have influenced her character a bit better .
I disliked the epilogue really compared to 1 and 2 books in the series , yes I am a sucker for a great epilogue this was not it.

Appreciate the reality check of that time period

I loved this book. First, it evoked vulnerability which you often see in romance novels, but it talked of real issues of that period and how absolutely destitute ppl were then that were outside of the Ton and working class. While sharing a love story.

WHO IS THE SPARROW??!! THE STORY BETTER CONTINUE!!

Ok, Evie got her man - I mean homegirl put her life on the line to get him, too. She was in a guilded cage, but I'm glad Westfall set her free.

Now, Stacy - I got a bone to pick with you...

WHERE IS PHOEBE? WHO WAS HER LOVER (CAUSE HE IS A DEAD MAN WITH A DEATH WISH)? WHO IS THIS SCOTTISH EARL?

This damn epilogue took one through a loop, it's like you forgot about Evie and immediately started asking questions. The Duke had some damn nerve. HES A DUKE FOR CRYING OUTLOUD?! HE COULDN'T FIND HIS DAUGHTER?! Furthermore, I guess the Duchess told the Duke off about costing her their kids because of his foolery. If I were Westfall, neither one of them would be meeting Emily, but I guess we will see and get our questions answered in Book 4. Cause Stacy, I refuse to believe you would leave us hanging like this. 2020 been too much already...

Lovely

A beautiful story that has lots of sizzle and sighs. Entertaining and heart warming all in one.

A bit dark for a regency romance

This story is a little dark for the typical regency romance but the characters and story are as addicting as any romance.
