About this listen

Besieged by Bloods and placed on a hunger watch, the citizens of the mutant compound of Wallis turn to the one person they pray will help, the Battle Lord of Alta Novis. Despite the fact that they took away the woman the man risked his life to love, they hope he will show mercy and lend aid. They never expected to find Atrilan Ferran alive and thriving as the wife of Yulen D'Jacques.

Yulen sees this as the perfect opportunity to show the citizens of Atty's home compound the power and status his wife wields. But first he, Atty, and his soldiers have to risk the journey against the oncoming horde of blood-thirsty crazies to get there.

Atty is eager to return to Wallis, but one small detail stands in the way of her and Yulen's happiness. He desires an heir, and she is terrified at the thought of becoming pregnant. Worse, the dangerous trek has increased his ardor, and she is running out of excuses why they can't make love.

Why switch narrators?

Love these books. The narrator needs some help with the doctors Voice. Please, change the doctor's voice. Even no accent is better than listening to the doctor sound like Goofy in Disney movie. All other characters sound fine. Really makes listening hard.

Enjoyed story, Narrator not so much.

I have read all the books in this series and have enjoyed them all. I had a very hard time with Daniela Acitelli as the narrator. Her take on Atty, the doctor, and Zane just got on my nerves. Can we get Kate Udall back as the Narrater?

Good grief that narration was awful.

I read the book a while back and decided to give the audio version a whirl. The first book was great. For this book, the voice for the doctor just p**ssed me off. Narrator spoiled a perfectly good book. Sigh 😔! The struggle was real to get through the darn thing!

narrator kills one of the most important character

She has this dumb cartoon voice for the doctor Leium, he's supposed to be the wise counsel and adviser to the main characters. yet he's sounds like scooby do if he could speak

LOVED This book Really great writer/narrator

I loved this audiobook. The writer pulls you in to the story and the reader makes it sound like it's real and you forget they're reading to you. I listened non-stop and couldn't put it down. I will listen to more by this writer and narrator.

don't like new narrator

good story, but the new narrator makes the story hard to listen to, she doesn't have the range for this type of story.

Not bad second book, absolutely awful narrator!!

I gave the story a 3 star rating because the narrator brought the second down from the 4 star rating I gave the first book. Daniela Acitelli is not a voice actor, she was just reading the book. The only way I could describe the way she read was overblown, like she was reading to kindergarteners. And she just butchered the character Liam, the man was a renowned doctor, a wise man, and she read him like Scooby-Doo, no joke. She took away his dignity. I’m pretty sure Linda Mooney cringed to hear her book read by this ninny, especially after having the excellent Voice Actor Kate Udall read her first book. I’m mad because I wasted a credit and sad because I thought I had found a new, long series to enjoy. Now, I will have to read the rest of the books when can find the time. Oh well...

Narration disaster

This is the second book in a series. I loved the first one enough to give the second one a whirl. The narrator for this one was god awful. Every time the doctor came on I wanted to peel my face off. Ugh. I’m about a third of the way through it and I’m quietly hoping the doc takes one for the team here and falls off his horse in a fit of old age never to be heard from again.

That Narration!

The voice of Liam (the doctor) brought to us by a Welsh cartoon canine. I just could not get over the tone and voice of some of the characters. I like the story very much. It is a great find for those who love adventure, fantasy, strong female characters and romance. Read the book (instead of listening via audiobook) if you are bothered by horrible voice characterizations. I feel as if the book lends itself to oral storytelling, but for ear preserving sakes, it deserves a bit of work on the voice characterizations.

Another Awesome Story Ruined by the Narration

Jesus....... Why in the world would you make MaGrath sound like a freakin toddler with a speech impediment????? He is a doctor!!!!! Educated! An advisor who people defer to and respect. Talk about a character killer!!!!!!! Just such a complete bummer.
