About this listen

When Hollywood screenwriter Chris Easterly's wife came clean about her affair, his mind went blank. And so began the long, unimaginably difficult reconstruction of his life after marriage. Relentlessly honest and profoundly moving, 'Falling Forward' explores the emotional journey of one man's divorce, from his wife's affair to the seemingly bottomless grief that followed to his eventual healing and the realization that he would survive.

Very good

This surprisingly hit way closer to home than I expected. I listened straight through, and was brought to tears many times. Thank you for the offering.

Painfully spot on

Although I fought back tears through most of this, it was reassuring to know that I am not the first on this journey. It has helped me come to terms with what I am feeling. A must read for any man going through this.

Rose Colored Glass View

I was interested in reading this book to learn a man's point of view of divorce. It was not what I expected. While there was a great deal of emotional conflict and musings on faith, a couple of things stood out to me. He wanted a wife not a buddy. Many of the most successful relationships involve being friends who can talk to one another. The second thing that stood out is the comment that he couldn't understand why she had the affair. Affairs tend to happen because something is missing in the relationship. Love alone is not always enough. While he wanted to attend couple's counseling and she reluctantly went, he never gave her what she really wanted. She did tell him the reason why and I don't think he really understood it. She wanted to be desired. A good sex therapist would've helped. This was a rather naive view of marriage and divorce. The narration was beautiful.

The book that opened my heart for my husband..

Thanks to Chris for wonderfully sharing his challenging season to us. Now I know that loving my husband is sharing with his pain and identity with his ex-wife. Grief has no timeline, but I know better amd will not be jealous when I sometimes see remnants of his ex-wife. I trust God that this journey He gave us will be our unique story of healing and I am so privileged to be a part of it..

Beautiful writing and honest self reflection

I selected this as an inclusion in my package as my appreciation for memoirs grows. This is a well-written insight into someone’s thoughts, memories, feelings and self-analysis before, during and after a marriage. I enjoy a book that helps the reader step into another’s shoes.

Relevant and relatable

Men typically swim upstream during a divorce and especially after. This book makes everything I went through feel more normal. It’s not preaching or a self help guide. It does a fantastic job of telling a story and gives subtle hints how to move forward after a divorce.

A prime example of a man in his feminine

Listening to his story it feels bad but I can clearly see how he became clingy on her. He embodied feminine energy in the relationship, and that is something women in general dislike. The story is a good guide of what NOT to do when married, how NOT to treat a woman, is a good example to see that he didn’t have command of his ship. A lot of men are in his position unfortunately. We have educate ourselves in how to be men, how to handle our circumstances, how to take total control of our ship of life (in other words, never leave her take control of the ship, keep her in the straight and narrow and she will adore you for being the man, for being a man made of rock!

Thank You!

This was exactly what I was looking for, there are plenty of books out there on divorce but rarely from a males perspective/experience. This book helped me understand and express the complexity of emotions I wrestled with while going through my divorce.
