About this listen

BDSM Erotic Romance

After Kari breaks up with her date during Beginner's Night at Club Shadowlands, she's given the option to continue with an experienced dominant. Despite her steamy fantasies about BDSM, the inexperienced schoolteacher plans to simply observe. Yet under the unyielding hands of Master Dan, she not only participates, but gives him everything he asks for. There is nothing she can hide from him. Not her passion - or her love.

Still mourning the death of his wife, Master Dan avoids getting involved with women and he never takes a sub twice. But this modest little beginner is such a sweetie, one night is far from enough. As he plumbs her responses, taking her ever deeper into the world of BDSM, the gentle submissive begins to show him how barren his life has become and what a dark citadel he's made of his heart.

During their three nights together, the teacher will learn to submit - can she teach the master to love?

I loved it

Master Dan is such a jerk. Kari just wants someone to want her. So she gets stuck with the biggest jerk in the club. He has walls put up taller than the great wall of China. She won't give up and will push every limit just to soften him up. Will it be enough?

One of my Favorite installments in the series

Where does Dark Citadel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks up there very high.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that Master Daniel was finally able to let go of his guilt and see Kari for the treasure she truly was.

Which character – as performed by Noah Michael Levine – was your favorite?

Master Daniel of course! He is such an intense character. I loved how He took charge of the situation after Kari's (then) boyfriend treated her poorly at the beginners class.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved the entire book. Kari is such a sweet soul. She so wanted Master Daniel and worked hard to break through His wall of defense.

Any additional comments?

This is the 2nd of the Masters of the Shadowlands series. I love all book. I am so excited to see that they are finally coming to Audible. I am looking forward to each of them as they come out. If you have not read any of Cherises books I encourage you to either listen on Audible or read on Amazon. (Or do both, like I do)

Dan

I enjoyed this one, but I did notice in the reread(or listen) that Dan’s back and forth really irritated me. I personally could not be as brave as Kari. I do like the atmosphere of the club setting.
Still not sure about only one narrator.

Excellent

The Club Shadowlands series is one of my favourites and this is the second time reading but this time I'm leaving a review.

Kari is a sweet shy women coming to the club with her boyfriend who she doesn't have the right chemistry with. As a widower Dan has no interest in starting a relationship and is full of guilt after losing his wife. But what happens when they are put together in the training program for subs?

I loved this book and the only thing making it a weaker 5 star is that I thought Dan was described a little to cold, but that's only because I didn't want him to be........:-)

The writing style is as always excellent, to the point and no unnecessary chitchat, at times it was fun and most of the time it was hotter than the pavement on a hot summer day.

Kari and her insecurities made me sympathies with her and I recognised the issues, I laughed and cried with her and I wanted to kick Dan's ass at one point.

There are some very good scenes in this book and if you are a BDMS fan you will enjoy this story.

Narrator:
This time I bought the audiobook and I have to say the author picked an excellent voice.......

Loved it.

What made the experience of listening to Dark Citadel the most enjoyable?

That it opened my mind to different lifestyles of enjoyable sex and that it was not all about sex but about the person and the things that they wanted to try and find out what they wanted.

What did you like best about this story?

There was a little of cat and mouse in this one with Dan having to come to terms he wanted Carrie for more than one night.

Have you listened to any of Noah Michael Levine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Narrative was great and very easy to follow.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That Dan really loved his wife and had to come to terms that he was not responsible for her death. The scene where he was at Carrie's house really moved me.
